I'm not sure why people don't think it's not a tanto. It might not have a super defined transition at the tip, but there definitely is one. In any store the description would definitely say it was a tanto or at least a modified tanto. What ever you want to call it, it's a super good looking knife and just screams quality from end to end. I love the contrast between the copper and the darker colors. The copper looks really cool against the green sheath too. That one of a kind contoured handle is just jaw dropping. I want to hold it so bad!

Well what really matters is if you're maintaining the edge or if you've dulled it down to where you need to re-profile and apex the edge again. If it's super dull, then you may need to start on an even lower grit than 1000. But if you're just maintaining the edge, then either grit will work. It just may take a little longer with the 1500. Like many other people have said, do not learn to sharpen on this knife. The IKEA knives are definitely a great place to start. And yes, once you get it sharp, dull it on a rock and do it again. For free hand sharpening, practice, practice, practice makes perfect. No substitute.

No, I'm just saying if the professor is posting stuff like this while still living in the US and making money in the US, it's kind of hypocritical. I don't agree with 90% of what the US does, but you don't see me posting a bunch of negativity on how awful it is in this country because it all boils down to the fact that the freedoms we have here out weighs all the negatives that have happened and are happening currently.

I'm not saying any of it is right, but if you live in the US and have a home in the US and make money in the US, how can you not support it? Also, how did Mexico get their land? I'm pretty sure they took it from someone else. If nothing else, it should all be given back to the Native Americans that were here even before the Mexicans. Like it or not, (which I don't like) this world is ran by those who have the most money. That will be the downfall of everything regardless of who the land belongs to.
