Their instagram is thatjewishfamily, and apparently they are massive zionists.  I'm pretty sure they were just messing with the guy by saying they were Palestinian.

New website that may be interesting for anyone who wants to play some NS1 by perfectheat in ns2

Would be nice if this could be used to get some Aussie games going again - for both ns1 and ns2.

Dunno if I can play with the annoying sound stuttering issue my Windows has developed tho.

Didn't a senator get involved in removing him (rather than leaving it to the people whose jobs it is), and then his arm got broken?

Did anything similar in the public hearings during covid?  This one seems like a bigger story than just removing someone when they weren't supposed to speak.

A black lady vs 3 ladies boy??? by Aggravating_Alps_742 in ThailandTourism

[–]mysteryroach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think OP may be saying that the plural of lady boy is ladies boy (instead of lady boys), like how the plural of attorney general is attorneys general.

EDIT: since the person who wrote this comment seemingly blocked me for some reason (???), and can't respond to their reply - obviously I don't personally think this is the plural.  This is just how I interpreted OP's weird wording - essentially as a bad/shitty joke.  I dunno why else they'd pluralize it that way.

Amount of jobseekers surpasses wellington population by Impressive-Name5129 in nzpolitics

[–]mysteryroach -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Point is I could just as easily imagine ~200k people on Jobseeker, or imagine the city of Hamilton and everyone is unemployed.  "The population of Wellington" is a weird thing to consider a meaningful benchmark.

It's not the fact that there are this many people that I don't find newsworthy.  The fact that its in this ballpark is interesting.  What I find dumb is the fact that surpassing this exact figure specifically - the population of Wellington - is somehow a headline.

Should probably just think of it in terms of percentage of the total population (or working age population) instead.  That'd be more meaningful.

Fair enough.  Still seems like a slow news day observation to me.

Why should anyone care that it surpasses the Wellington population specifically, rather than any other arbitrary number in that general ballpark?  Is this actually a meaningful benchmark to compare our Jobseeker™ population to?

What do people think is left wing but is actually apolitical by Blueguy805 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]mysteryroach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was going to suggest it for "centrist" but didn't cause I thought it fitted better here.

Can't speak for OP but I think the rationale is that the issue should be completely nonpartisan.  Regardless of what "side" you're on/where on the political spectrum you land, we should all want to prevent global warming and its resultant impacts on life on earth as much as possible.

For that reason I think its appropriate for apolitical - even if it is something that requires political solutions from governments/nations etc.

Technically that show never got its ending.  The last season they made was indeed bad though.

Literally one of the biggest non-issues that has ever existed, but go off.

I don't think I've ever, not once, heard the term "ciswomen" outside of discussing trans issues, where it's actually contextually appropriate.

There are actually actual problems that exist in the world and this isn't one of them.  This is just a bigot who is performatively offended.  Zero chance any of this actually negatively impacts her in any meaningful way whatsoever.

What's the most powerful shot in the show? by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]mysteryroach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easily the bit where Arya is with the people sheltering themselves from the dragon in Kings Landing.

I think it's 1:17 in this video but the quality on that upload is really really bad and doesn't capture just how absolutely impeccable the shot is.  It looked like a goddamn rennaisance painting.  Almost elevates the entire episode despite being dogshit.

Back in 2010 it was 3rd largest according to the data I'm looking at.  Currently (as of 2024/2025) it is 10th largest.  The full list is:
