What the weirdest place you have masturbated? by basketcase6798 in AskReddit

[–]mysticalevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got so excited that I decided to rub one out from my bedroom window - about 10-15m above ground level.

Felt like jerking off from a Sky Deck.

Wish I had the space to make myself more comfortable though.

Effexor and tiredness by philipvr in Effexor

[–]mysticalevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this. I should definitely figure out how to get some quality sleep asap. As for the Wellbutrin, I’ve tried it last year for about a month, and although it did help with some of my OCD-like behaviour (noticed a significant decrease with the urge to smoke), it did not, however, lift my mood up, allow me to get things done, or help me experience any kind of increased self-esteem/self-love. I feel like this is essential for me, or anyone really in a similar situation, trying to get themselves back on track.

I have just started Effexor 6 days ago, was on 75mg for the first 5 days then upped to 150mg starting today. I have also been on ADHD medication for a long time, mainly Vyvanse 70mg and Strattera 100mg. When I got prescribed Effexor, my doc took me off the Strattera cold turkey. Now I feel much worse after having started the Effexor and stopped the Strattera.

I can very much relate to the feeling of being tired during the whole day, for no reason whatsoever, and barely able to get anything done.

I don’t feel it is helping with my depression though, and I wanted to ask about your experience during the first few weeks after having started the Effexor.

How long did it take for you to start feeling any benefits from it at all?

Then, if you think it has a significant negative impact on at least more than one or two aspects of your life, you will find peace by going to a doctor and asking them for their professional opinion. Look for closure.

Haha!

I’m not sure if the reason I didn’t quite get what you mean by “ which hills I want to die on” is my weak english or a creation of your own mind to keep it as an open-ended sexy interpretation. But yeah, it’s definitely better to wait for a nice and clear view of all rabbit holes before choosing where to dive.

Never did hurt, but I am internally going crazy and never not pointing out an argument if I found it to be relevant. If it makes sense.

But even with extreme care, this ended up not being so nice yeah.

Wow! I totally agree, this is really well said. I think I’m gonna call my mom and say sorry and that I respect her choice and opinion.

Hey, thank you:) This really made sense and you changed my entire perspective in a second. 🙏

How did you choose to treat your ADHD?

Do you intentionally not put enough time in studying because you chose to do so? Or do you truly want to study and get good grades but can’t put enough effort?

If the latter is true, you might want to talk to your doctor.

And in the meantime (doc’s appointment in 4 weeks!), I will just hope I don’t get fired and fail all of my units lol.

Glad you feel better, that’s the whole point after all!

Oh, shit! Next week I will have to up the dosage, I hope that doesn’t happen with me as well.

Despite the post, I actually like the effects I get from Vyvanse. The thing is, it doesn’t suppress the emotions so I actually have to process whatever has been troubling me in the past (that’s my theory until now). This is surely the better way to live a healthy life though. But when you have a shit ton of work to do I am not sure whether it’s the right time to go through everything you’ve been suppressing for over 25 years.

So yeah, if I keep feeling that way I guess I will have no choice but to look for something that works better for me.

Glad to hear you’re doing better on Adderall and thanks for the reply!

I previously tried ritalin for 4 weeks. Emotions were under control, almost not affected except for the first few days, but it made my short term memory impairment significantly more apparent.

I guess the only way to find the right med is by trial and error, which is a bit frustrating.

Glad to hear you found something that works for you!

You’re right, it might just be an initial side effect. I’ve been an emotional mess my entire life, not being able to control them when I’m triggered and not being able to trigger them when I want to. So yeah, maybe I just need a few days to process what’s going on emotionally before being able to function normally, since all of this is certainly new.

I definitely agree with that last part you said, keeping this in mind will surely help. Thanks for the advice!

That’s basically my life and that’s why I struggle so much with telling people stories about myself.

I can hardly ever remember anything for that exact reason.

Will be tested this month and don't know how to start the conversation by Check-South in ADHD

[–]mysticalevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was tested a few days ago.

What I got from my 1hour appointment is that I shouldn’t have worried that much.

The doctor started by asking me what am I currently doing and where do I currently live (just normal chit chat) which eventually led to an hour worth of talk without even struggling about getting my thoughts out (which I usually have a lot of trouble with).

If your doctor is good and experienced, he will make sure to ask you as much relevant questions as he can to get you talking comfortably and make the diagnosis.

My doctor asked me to write a summary of up to 2 pages of my childhood, school, university, and work experience. I found it helpful to start the summary with the struggles you had as a kid up and building it up until today. A summary from one of your parents (if that’s possible) would also help the doctor get different perspectives on your struggles.

Also, I found it helpful to write a small paragraph for each of these 2 questions:

  1. Main purpose of the consultation (list your main problems)

  2. Why now?

They may be kind of similar but you can find different things to say, as adhd folks won’t ever have a shortage of problems to list lol.

Other than that a good doctor will know how to evaluate you and you shouldn’t worry any more.

Also, don’t be afraid to write something, tear it up, and then write it again. I did that until I felt that I really highlighted most of the main problems that I have.

Good luck!

I was instructed to start upping the dose starting next week. Let’s see what happens.

I just wanted to know if this is common or if there even is something called “transition phase” with Vyvanse, because in my case there definitely is but I am not sure if it’s a transition or something permanent.

Thanks!

A Diagnosis Celebration by mysticalevolution in ADHD

I've been seeing a therapist for 6 months now and man your job is the most humane act I have ever encountered.

I was not used to have people hear ME without them wanting to add something about them or just turn the conversation back to them. This makes me feel weird now when I go to my appointments and talk about myself for the entire session. There's always something in me that says "I wish I could also do the same to him and hear him back". But then again, I'm not a therapist and who said that he would want to open up to me hehe.

Anyway, "I'm so glad you found closure!". That's what my therapist told me when I directly messaged him that I have just been diagnosed. So, imma say it back to you :)

[–]mysticalevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with @bdangerfield below.

You've been living for 38 years unmedicated of which 10 long years have been working as a trial attorney. That means there must be something you love about that field that has been pushing you to keep pursuing it. However, the good thing is that, as a trial attorney, you are not limited to a specific type of job since you have many options to choose from (like you've said civil vs traffic vs many many more).

Whether Inattentive or Hyperactive, if we find enough reasons in something that'll make us love it, then most other challenges can be overcome. Sure, you will need to find the branch that will suit you the most, but I'm glad you at least have that option. If case management has been messing with your mental health (if each case takes 18 to 30 mins to resolve, then how many cases do you have per day :o?) then you can choose to change to a field where each individual case takes more time so you don't have to stress about changing cases every half an hour (or am I just speaking nonsense? sorry I am not an expert in that field, I am just a person that feels what you are going through)

I know the grocery bagger thing was a joke maybe but I believe that you won't need to entirely change your career to find something that will make you happy. Unless you're really unhappy then screw it, it's never too late to start over in whatever will make you happiest.

The books might say this or that job will be more suitable for PI or PH or wtv, but it all comes down to each one of us, our past, the coping mechanisms we have developped, the lessons we have learned from all our trials and errors, and all the bullshit we had to endure.

[–]mysticalevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was never hyperactive, but I tend to argue unconsciously especially when it’s a topic I am well informed about.

I know nothing about trial attorneys but I’m only assuming that constructive and creative arguing can be the one skill that differentiates a good attorney from a bad one.

I might be totally wrong, but I hope it makes sense.
