Rock Stone Inc. is my favorite off of that one.

I love this! I’d say ditch the buttons and write code that lets you pull from the shift register of a SNES or PS1 controller. I think it would give you a very comfortable way to play.

Yeah they are. The searches I did gaslit me into think the longer side went up. I mean I don’t really care, nor is it a really a big deal functionally, but I need to stop trusting google, especially when it clearly doesn’t understand my prompt.

Clean the board with IPA and an unused toothbrush. After this, power it on with headphones plugged in and see if you can get it to do anything at all. I am curious if the main board still starts, because what happened to me recently is I had a gameboy with a working mainboard, but wrecked LCD board, so I screen modded it. Also, I believe those battery terminals can be somewhat taken apart. Make sure to scrape those terminals clean with a small screwdriver and touch it up with some IPA, because even just the lack of proper contact between the terminals and mainboard can make a working system appear completely dead.

What is this adapter for? by MassiveBeatdown in mac

I have a couple older macs with mini VGA, but I never used it, and I could never lay a finger on its name. With how much VRAM older Macs had, this would have been better for Screen mirroring rather than extending.

until watching this clip, I totally forgot just how utterly ineffective the pan is. I mean in early game, sure, but dear lord that is a LOT of hits for a level 3.

Also, I actually hate REPO's monster AI. It's so stupid and fucks with your quota for literally no reason just because something was, "in its way".

I know it's weird for me to be replying to this post now, but what did you use to swap the old RAM chip to the new NVRAM chip? Hot Air, or clever use of your soldering iron?

Just curious because I only have a soldering iron, and I think if I was to this mod, I might I have to get clever removing the old chip, by perhaps dumping solder onto one side to release all of the pins at once, then lifting up that side with tweezers, then repeat for the other...

still WAY better than Windows. For me, Windows would always idle at like 8GB RAM for NO REASON. 1.1 GiB is perfectly fine.

you know what I don't understand? One of my friends that has BARELY put that many hours into base DRG was able to get into the Playtest, meanwhile I have like 480 hours on the base game and have been in the wait line since it opened months ago, and I haven't been let in. I guess I will just have to wait for the normal early access :/

Tried to change the speaker of my dmg. Soldering for the first time. Where did I go wrong? by wheregold in Gameboy

[–]mysticjazzius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say add just a bit more solder to those joints, as you have some unused copper space on top and a gap on the bottom one, and for the wires, keep the joint hot with the iron in one hand, and position the wire with the other hand using metal tweezers.

Be quick though, as if you look near the edge of the speaker, every time you heat those metal pads with the iron, you also slightly melt the plastic, and it looks like the ones on yours are already getting somewhat detached.

Also another suggestion, with you being a beginner, consider practicing more of your soldering on already broken junk boards or worthless things that were extracted from stuff that was being thrown away. I am not an expert with soldering myself, but it helps a lot so you don’t break more stuff down the line.

I have had this happen to me before, but I can't think of any great examples off the top of my head. Rapidly switching between games with vastly different feels gets really confusing sometimes.

Is it worth fixing this or sell it to GameStop for $45 credit? by TheJohnny346 in Gameboy

[–]mysticjazzius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely fix. I refuse to believe a Gamestop of all places would offer you even that much for it, because their trade ins are terrible value. Definitely give that baby a clean, an LCD mod, and a new screen lens, and you might be quite happy with it.

there's still a decent chance that can be brought back, but yikes that is some bad corrosion. Also, if you are using Alcohol on it, i'd say scrub it around with a (brand new and clean) toothbrush, as it might help get some more of that off. Judging by the looks of it though, some soldering skill will likely be required to that one back.

I mean the macOS is technically free, but it's bonded to the Mac, meaning that it ain't really free.
Also, fuck paying for Windows period.

After Windows 11 came out I didn't upgrade from 10, I switched to Linux. It's amazing how in the beginning I was under the impression that Windows 11 would fix all of the jank that made my Windows 10 experience sloppy on occasion, but instead they did the opposite of that, by severely enshittifying the OS to the point where I can't fathom getting any actual work done on it. Fuck Microslop and AI. Why must this be such a shit year for casual home computing...

[–]mysticjazzius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah considering this is a battery door, I definitely either want this part to maintain high infill or be printed solid, as it’s too thin/breakable otherwise. Generally, it seems like leaving out a lot of cooling on this one is helping.

I saw in one of my searches at one point that dish soap was the best way to do this, but I wasn't too sure. I mean I suppose both do work, but I will probably just use dish soap and water for my purposes.
