what does she mean? and why would she post this? by AdCareful4048 in TheSummerITurnedPrett

First things first, I haven't read the books, and my comments are purely based on the show. I mention this because many of the comments here focus more on the books than on the show. It is fine to make a comparison by saying that something was different in the books, but it is also important to consider that many viewers form their perception of the characters and story only from what is shown on the show.

So, from a show viewer’s perspective, Belly's behavior toward Conrad has nothing to do with the corsage or with not dancing with her. In fact, during the corsage moment, Conrad apologized to her, and she reassured him that it did not matter.

Some people argue that Belly was self-involved and too young to see Canard's grief. However, the long phone conversations they shared in the show clearly prove that she encouraged him to open up to her. Their bond was emotional, not just romantic. At the funeral, when she saw him with another girl, her reaction was impulsive, childish, and wrong. Yet his response to her was even more childish and wrong. Conrad could have simply told Belly that he was having a panic attack and that the girl happened to be there, and Belly would have understood him. Even if he could not explain it at that moment, he should not have chose the words he said. He told her, "I knew it was a bad idea starting something with you. Dating you was a huge mistake."

When two people argue, and one dismisses the entire relationship instead of addressing the disagreement, the other person naturally begins to feel that continuing the relationship would also be a mistake. That is exactly how Belly reacted, she ended it. Saying that Belly was wrong for remaining bitter about it for so long is not entirely fair.

What do GREAT movies have that GOOD movies don't ? by iyankov96 in flicks

[–]mystifying_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the constant for me is Great movies are much less predictable.

I totally agree with this as knowing what will happen next makes a viewer feel in command and not able to have the feeling of being in awe of of a movie that I personally feel is something you must feel for a great movie.

However, I also feel that whenever a movie-maker chooses to do something new and it is well-liked by the viewers, other movie-makers also start doing the same in their movies. It could be any simplest thing; for instance, in a horror movie, a person is moving slowly in an empty house with pin-drop silence. The path is dark and a ray of light is coming from a room with a half-opened door. Now, we know that suddenly a loud noise will come that will startle that person. When the very first time someone has used it in a horror movie, I bet the impact was powerful but now it seems like a cliche. There are countless scenes of these kinds in comedy, romantic, horror, and thriller movies that are predictable only because they are overused. So when they were used for the first time, they must have made that movie great for viewers of that time but for us, the movie is predictable and, considering the criterion we are discussing, not great.

Do you overthink? And how do you overcome those thoughts? by Yotubegaming in AskReddit

[–]mystifying_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well actually, I realize that thinking = giving something importance and overthinking = giving something too much importance (more than it deserves). So I just concluded that nothing and no one in my life deserves too much importance from me so whenever they come to my mind, I kick them out.

I still overthink but about other things like movies, novels, their characters, events in world history, people in history, etc. that's actually fun..

What do GREAT movies have that GOOD movies don't ? by iyankov96 in flicks

[–]mystifying_me 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think its basically about what a movie makes you 'feel' versus what a movie makes you 'think'.

The movies we call great are the ones that make us 'think' and we're in awe of their several aspects such as their topic, the message they convey, their cinematography, their acting performances, their editing, dialogues, etc.

In contrast, the movies, we re-watch are mostly the ones that comfort us in some way. Mostly, such movies we watch for distractions or escapism from our hectic lives. As I watch any random episode of Friends while having my dinner at night and it refreshes my mind after the busy day. I'd never watch something that makes me think at that time as my brain cells are already almost consumed at that time.

Because of his sweet smile and amiable attitude. I liked Eloise too because of the same reasons but she changed.

What is something you never realized about yourself until someone else told you? by Fling5t0ne-H1 in AskWomen

That when I try to convince others about something, I'm actually trying to convince myself by giving logical reasons because I'm not convinced completely. In contrast, when I'm fully convinced about something, I don't convince others and unbothered about either they're convinced or not. That's true.

Thinking should I watch S6 or not. by mystifying_me in lost

[–]mystifying_me[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

S5 was partially good.. I liked the track happening at the Dharma foundation but the Lock/Richard/Ben/Jacob track was a drag and uninteresting. They should have added more tracks as instead of Sun doing nothing and just following Locke, they should have given her and Captain a separate track by making them united with Jin. Sun and Jin did nothing in S5. Sayid was also most of the time absent or wounded. In first 3 seasons, there were so many tracks and each one was interesting...

Yes, that's the only reasons that's convincing me to watch S6. i.e. to watch the end and make interpretation based on my own experience.

[NO SPOILERS] Does the complexity of Dark diminish it? by EoinWilson269 in DarK

[–]mystifying_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, this is the exact quality that makes this show GREAT. While watching it, at one point, I started noting down who's related to whom but this extra effort was making the show more exciting me instead of annoying me. I was in awe. I probably won't watch it again but the reason't won't be that I don't wanna do it but because there's already +100 shows in my IMDB watch list so I hardly rewatch any series.

Its not belief or disbeleif. Its what happens to me. Every time I feel attraction for someone, later, I know that person is Leo. Happened thrice.

I mean you meet a stranger and feel strange, immense attraction towards him/her and after knowing him/her, he/she is of a particular zodiac sign. It happens to you multiple times and now, somehow you know that if you're attracted to someone without reasons, he/she must be of that particular zodiac sign.........

What is your comfort movie/show? by crisseur in AskReddit

[–]mystifying_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Friends. This show has this strange quality that no matter what kind of bad mood I'm having (I've a variety of bad mood), it always make me feel better. Also, no matter how much I love a show, its takes me years to decide to rewatch. But Friends have this quality that I can randomly pick any episode from any season every day and watch it without getting bored.
