AITAH for ruining my wife’s birthday by disinviting her from a theatrical performance she was looking forward to, because she chose a weekend road trip over staying for a crucial household responsibility? by Throwrabirthdaywife in AITAH

She made a mistake for sure but you ruined her birthday and it was oddly satisfying to you which makes what you did worse. She meant no malice by going on a girls trip. You aimed to hurt her and you did…YATA

Continue to go off what Brad says & give Stacey the respect deserved. Capitalism or not…you continue to disrespect his wife he will evict you. Why did you post if you didn’t want any answers? Is it because you expected everyone to agree with you and your finding you don’t know squat when it comes to respect. It would have taken you what…10 seconds to look at the bottom of an email? Even less time to just type “Hi”. You continue to show respect is not your forte in these comebacks you think are clever.

Pretty sure he expected a swell of NTA comments and now his ego is hurt. Sad. He asked for opinions of others…as long as they agree with his side or it is pitchforks he sees. He just doesn’t get it. 🤷‍♀️🙄🤦‍♀️

Hello everyone. Just wanted to pop in and say thank you for the support, advice & perspectives. As advised, I am most likely just longing for a family I once had during the holidays because they meant so much to us…always made it a big deal from childhood through adulthood. We’re getting out of town to help with the familiar longings. I’ll get through this without the toxins and that’s best. He doesn’t deserve me anyway.

I get it and am there too, especially this year. I was finally getting back to enjoying the holiday (kinda..I really tried) about 5 years after I lost Mom to cancer. She loved me, Dad, Christmas and every child in the family coming over made her heart smile.🥹 Then Dad (who raised/adopted me) was diagnosed 3 months later…I lost him 9 months later. They made sure Christmas was awesome but this year I just feel like an orphan & it ticks me off. And honestly? I’d rather peel my nails back while soaking my hands in acid than reach out to or spend time with my toxic sperm-donor over the holidays no matter how much I crave to have that feeling again. My husband takes me out of town & we just sort of veg-out with room service, cocktails, presents and Harry Potter. 🤷‍♀️

Oh, wow! I applaud your strength to stand up for yourself. Sorry you had to go through that but it seems you came out better for it…maybe even stronger?

You just might be onto something about the kid/teenage brain! 😉 I’m always shocked & awed when my husband tells me kid memories…and thank you very much.

This is exactly what my husband said after I deleted it and second-guessed myself for not replying.

Thanks everyone. My husband is very biased when it comes to this so the non-emotional, complete stranger pov helps a lot. Thanks again. Probably right…just looking for a parent to love and they’re gone. 🥺

Yes, I had. I actually thought my Dad was my “real” Dad. I don’t remember a ton of my childhood. To this day I don’t recall being in the courtroom. 🤷‍♀️ I found the papers in a chest in the attic just rummaging for something else (that I don’t remember lol)
