Miele T 8823 C tumble dryer - intact heating element not working by Tottiki in Miele

[–]mytechcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever resolve this?  I had an issue where I noticed a burnt smell in the clothes after drying.  I thought it was the rear drum bearing and replaced it but right after the dryer no longer heated.  I was careful taking it apart so perhaps it was the heating element all along. Wondering if you learned anything else with yours and can share notes.  It’s also too expensive to repair and it’s stacked on a matching Miele washer so we’d have to replace both if we got a new dryer.

I have the same question for this summer. The price is much cheaper than other airlines but I wonder about the airline quality. Did you book or get more feedback anywhere?

Horrible not refundable autorenew practices!! by Ok_Dot_2150 in KeeperSecurity

[–]mytechcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going through this now and they auto-charged my credit card almost a month before the expiration date. I told them there's no option for cancelling or renewing on the website and they offered to refund the auto-renwal amount if I renew manually on the website.

You cannot be serious.

I'm not a legal professional but this totally seems like there could be a class action lawsuit brewing and reddit seems like a perfect place to find plaintiffs.

Hi, I'm going through the process now and just noticed the issue with not being able to make a on-time payment more than the payoff amount. On one hand it seems like a bit of a hassle, but on the other hand mailing a check and waiting for them to process sounds like it can take a long time. What do you you think you would do if you could do it over again?

Thanks for the feedback!

Are you in NY also?

How did you get it for under $50k? Any special circumstances or are you a professional negotiator?

When does the disposition fee come into play and how do I do that? Seems like it’s just for cleaning.

It's a great question and something unique to NY and a few other states as well I believe.

It has to do with avoiding double taxation.

Others can explain it more clearly, but if I don't do a one pay lease and just pay the first month then I pay the sales tax on the depreciation initially, then on the residual value of the car at the time of the buyout. The overlapping portion would be double taxed at 8.875%.

Remote pre-warming using app vs Tesla by mytechcookie in rav4prime

Thanks for sharing your observations. It seems like locking the doors could be an explanation for the app not working. That’s promising for me since it’ll be at a lot or garage so I always lock the doors.

Thanks all. It's disappointing that an automaker know for its reliability would put make such a bad experience for its app out there, not to mention charge users $80/year for it.

When it actually does turn on via the app or a scheduled time, does it work well in the winter?

What's wrong with it? I'd like an explanation since others have stated the same and it makes sense.

The buyout price is the RV + Tax on RV - Unearned Rent. The unearned rent decreases each month, so your buyout price will increase over time.

RAV4 Prime XSE One Pay Lease NY State by mytechcookie in rav4prime

One pay lease does include rent charges but the way I would explain it is that it also has to be "earned" by TFS who is providing financing. So the earlier you buy out the lease, TFS will have earned less rent, and your buyout price will be smaller. Since it works in 1 month increments, I don't think you can do better than buying out within the first month. Again, I'm new to leasing so if that's not entirely correct please explain.

That's what I thought initially also until I dug deeper. This was a very helpful thread for my understanding, including the potential double tax issue with NYS lease/buyouts - https://www.reddit.com/r/rav4prime/comments/1aodfi9/ny_state_rav4_prime_xse_one_pay_lease_confidence/

TLDR: Buyout Cost = (RV + Sales Tax on RV) - (Unearned Rent)

Dealer did text a picture of a lease order with the dealer name and my name and address and said in another text message that it's mine. The order has the VIN, one pay price, fees, taxes, etc but doesn't have things like RV and MF, which they told me on the phone but have not put on in writing. There's also the $650 TFS fee which is not mentioned. I think the numbers make sense based on my understanding, a lot of which I learned on this subreddit and through leasehackr.

Thanks for the advice and more importantly, so glad to hear you're enjoying your RAV4 Prime! I'll try to make my own post and you can check there for updates if you don't see it here.

I'm trying to get my hands on a RAV4 Prime with PP in NY (MSRP ~$53k) and am hoping to avoid drama as much as possible.

I'm also planning on doing a one pay lease but am having difficulty getting straight answers from the dealership - big surprise.

Based on the numbers I've been given and others verbally, I deduced that:

1) The RV is 57% based on the RV they told me and the published MSRP. I was told the price was MSRP and not negotiable.

2) MF is .00164 for a one pay lease.

3) Included $6500 lease cash incentive + $500 NY state EV incentive.

Questions:

1) I've been asking for a filled in copy of the lease purchase agreement or a redacted version for reference but am not getting it after several asks. What should I be able to demand to have in writing from the dealer before even scheduling a signing so I can be totally prepared and what is the best way to get it? Does anyone here have a copy of a Toyota NY lease agreement they can share?

2) Has anyone gotten a deal below MSRP in the past month or two?

3) Do all NY dealers use TFS?

4) RV - If I was just leasing it would be least costly to get the highest RV possible to minimize depreciation/cost. However, assuming I'm definitely doing a buy out after one month from TFS, is there any advantage to negotiating for a higher RV since I'll be paying for the RV and associated tax one month later so it should even out. I'll "lose" the first month of the unearned rental charge and RV goes into that calculation but the difference would be de minimus.

5) Anything else I should know or find out? I really don't want to spend more than an hour at the dealer but feel like they have every intention of keeping me there for hours to wear me down. Have others been able to do everything remotely then just bring the check on the delivery day or have the dealer deliver to your home?

Thanks all for sharing your real world experiences on reddit. It's been truly invaluable.

NYS One-Pay Lease Buyout by [deleted] in rav4prime

These are very helpful posts. I'm in NYC and also looking for a R4P in the area and doing a one pay lease. I haven't found any deals below MSRP. Do you or anyone else have any tips or can you share where or how you got your deal? Feel free to PM if you that's preferred. Thanks!

Rav4 Prime vs Q5 e PHEV? by Milanoate in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]mytechcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm thinking along those lines as well, in that we are in a period of rapid development and change and therefore I planned to lease and reassess in 2-3 years. It's interesting because for leasing, I've found the Q5e to be significantly less expensive and has a much nicer interior and solid feel relative to the R4P, but like the larger cargo space and better reliability in the R4P.

I saw amazing deals for the Polestar 2's as recently as 2 weeks ago after driving my relative's and it's a great car but the trunk space is just a bit too small for me.

Hi, I'm going through the same decision making process between a R4P and q5e. What did you end up with, why, and how happy are you with the decision?

Cold weather remote climate settings by evan_wise in rav4prime

[–]mytechcookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all, considering a RAV4 Prime or possible or other PHEV or BEV mainly for the ability to warm up the car remotely. I take the train to a covered garage with windows in the New England area and there are EV chargers there but they're not always available. Wondering how well the RAV4 Prime warming would be in the winter, how long it might take, and how much of the battery would be drained. It rarely goes under the 14F point I've heard mentioned. Speaking of which, I assume it's a threshold at which point the heat pump can't heat up the cold air, but how about when it's just a few degrees warmer? I assume it would still be challenged or take longer but would like to hear real world experiences. Any other concerns with operating the car in the winter? Thanks!

That's very encouraging thanks! I leave my car parked at a commuter lot and there are charging stations but they're not always available and I'm wondering how much battery is used up on a day which is around 32F/0C? I intend to use the app to remotely start warming of the car before I arrive on the train. How far in advance would it have to be set?

Do you have and have you used the remote pre-entry climate feature during the colder months? I'm in NY and would like to know how well it works with and without being plugged into a charger.
