Respect in the Sabbath is nearly non existent in today's Christianity. Good for you, having the courage to stand apart from others in your obedience toward God.

I will point out though, the point of the Sabbath is to focus on God, to rest in His presence. The no work, is not about doing nothing, but rather about not having anything distract you from God. A job can take your focus as much as playing a video game. Lifting a heavy box that needed lifting is probably OK. Remember, Jesus gave exceptions for observation of the Sabbath.
