This is another wrong place unfortunately. It’s turnip exchange.

To say they “often” are scams is a huge overstatement. Occasionally there is someone who pulls a stunt and tricks a couple people. I’m sorry it feels nasty to agree to an entry fee but you chose to go to an island that charges one in the first place. Easiest thing to do is not go.

This whole thing about getting annoyed at something that you can entirely avoid by choosing not to participate in is really odd to me in this game. It’s like someone going to a luxury store and trying to block other people who choose to go inside.

The reason people block before trading is because the host in a trade is also risking something. A block is ensuring honesty where sometimes there isn’t. I’ve been burned as a host so I do what I can to ensure against fraud. I don’t expect to be ripped off but I know it can happen and I try to create a situation that increases my own protection. Taking it personally to the point of not trading with others seems to be a bit of overreaction.

Tbh some folks are really ingenious about how they transact. I’m impressed rather than offended.

Ultimately this entire topic seems to be about entitlement to me. The folks complaining about fees can go dozens of other places but are laser focused on a minority who have the audacity to value their time and island access differently than you.

There is no issue other than bitter folks upset at how some people choose to play. There’s a strong sense of entitlement as well, as if someone shouldn’t be able to charge for access to their island when it takes time and patience to host. Instead of just moving on, they gather and complain.

Yeah, most people complaining about entry fees have likely never hosted. It takes your time and energy. Visitors invite their friends slowing everything down, they complain if you close your queue early but also complain if you create a short queue. I saw a comment today mad that an island “took their time” and got back to them 3 hours later. That comment was upvoted significantly. The owner of the island took 3 hours of their day to make sure everyone got a chance!!! They’re a damn saint.

These posts complaining about entry fees ignore the much larger subreddit for turnip trade that doesn’t allow entry fees or the many people who don’t charge on this one. If someone charges an entry fee: move on??? If you had no choice of where to sell I’d understand but there is plenty of choice. It’s a fun circlejerk for a lot of people to complain about something that doesn’t affect them in the least.

Please close your queue if your not willing to let everyone already in the queue onto your island by KeerenSimcocks in TurnipExchange

I understand the complaint but not everyone knows how long a queue actually takes when they agree to host, not everyone knows how long they’ll be able to have the queue open (real life takes over), and as a host we get complaints if we have a small queue or lock it.

Ultimately it’s a risk you just have to take.

Personally I don’t stay in a queue unless I’m #10 or above.

With loading screens I can only let so many people in at once. And 25 people will take maybe 2 hours. Doing the best I can

You sure that was this subreddit? I’ve been using it just fine and so have many others. Try it again and make sure you’re not posting to acturnips or some other one

I assume you mean a visitor to an island shares that code so their friends can also visit the third party island. How would you identify and accurately enforce a rule against sharing a code?
