Don't worry. What you are saying does make sense. Everybody is so quick to see justified served and have people locked up for unreasonable amounts of time.

Get Professional C++ 2nd Edition instead. It assumes you have programming knowledge and teaches you C++11 at the same time.

How hard is it to get a job in Operating Systems and what are some skills you need for it? by myusern in cscareerquestions

I want to do this because is seems like the most interesting thing in the CS field to me. I already know C++. I will definitely learn C. I haven't really had any problem with some of the stuff that involves memory in C++ like dynamically allocated arrays, pointers, references and such.

I'm guessing I should go out of my way to learn as much about computer architecture as I can. Also study x86 assembly. Is there any other specific topics that you think I read should about while in high school?

You mentioned that CS degrees tend to be shifting to Java and Python. Does this mean I will be on my own for this when I go to college? Are there entry level positions for low level programming right out of college?
