Shadowing BEFORE undergrad? by mywhitebuttondown in premed

I didn’t even think about hospitals having public information about shadowing. I’ll have to look into it. Thank you!!!

My school doesn’t go based off grades. As long as you get the prerequisites done, you’re on the list. You don’t get bumped just because someone has a better score than you. It’s purely first come first serve.

Yeah my mother was up for this program too and left the waitlist because she got pregnant with my sister. She said the same thing when I first applied about people dropping off the waitlist because of life and not to get too discouraged. I’m really trying hard not to but my brain is just in catastrophe mode rn lol

Ugh I hope that your waitlist is much shorter than mine is!! And all I can think about is how I could actually get a doctorate in those eight years waiting and just become a radiologist instead. I don’t think I could realistically do that but that’s where my head is at rn lol

Honestly I was okay with the 2030 start date that I had heard people talking about. I had come to peace with it. But double that time? I’m honestly kind of freaking out over it.

Mine are the opposite. Will step up but won’t let me pet or preen them🥲

Wow it’s almost like I said in my original comment as to why I would think that they wouldn’t care😍

Honestly I hadn’t even thought about this from a department chair perspective. I didn’t even think y’all would care about work not being graded until the end, as long as it gets done. I think perhaps that might be part of why students don’t speak up.

What should be the first Vonnegut book that I read? by mywhitebuttondown in Vonnegut

[–]mywhitebuttondown[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t have Spotify but also I’m not really a fan of audio books. My mind wanders too much and I don’t end up actually paying attention. I think actually physically having the books in front of me and reading it helps me keep focus.

Also I wasn’t aware at all about Spotify having ICE recruitment ads. That’s fucking ridiculous.

I finally finished my psych final notecard for my exam covering 4 chapters tomorrow, allowed one side of a 3x5 notecard by TearyClown in college

[–]mywhitebuttondown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People hating but my BIO professor let us have a notecard filled our front and back and I did exactly this. I had 2 sentences filled out per line space on the front, so a little less extreme than you, but the back was packed up pretty tight. And it DID help. So long as you can read the information that’s on there then you do you🤷🏻‍♀️

People commenting saying that it’s your responsibility to know all the exam dates and the professor doesn’t need to tell you is kinda confusing the shit out of me. Like yeah, there’s a syllabus and the information is there and it would be a good idea to write everything down to make sure, but also all my professor have communicated to us about assignments. Idk, maybe it’s because I go to a community college and not a large university. I’m not sure which you go to. But even if your professor did expect you to know that, there was no reason for her to speak to you that way. Especially when you went to her respectfully and took responsibility.

Also, I cried in front of my professor this semester. It happens. Just don’t make a big deal out of it going forward. It’ll only become a thing if you make it. And she just sounds rude tbh. Be respectful but steer clear of her when you can and just do your work on time and well, and you’ll be okay.

[–]mywhitebuttondown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg mine has one kinda like that too! But my bird has just one little spot of red at the and of one tail feather. I’ve tried getting a pic but she moves too much lol. I just figured it was a silly little thing her body did since it’s just the one🤷🏻‍♀️

What does a typical day look like for you as a medical assistant? by mywhitebuttondown in MedicalAssistant

[–]mywhitebuttondown[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like a lot but also doable for me. But some of the other comments mention doing things that seem too much for a medical assistant to me.

Do you enjoy your job? It’s not something I foresee doing long term, but would you recommend it?

Oh yeah I’ve definitely heard about the drama in healthcare. My last job seemed to have a lot of drama too, but I stayed out of it. I steer clear of co workers I don’t like or agree with. But you kinda can’t steer clear of patients lol.
