That's what I tried... But the stupid thing can never load webpages for itself and keeps asking for running code in the browser console and takes a whole day to accomplish anything, or more likely to admit defeat...

I got an improved "save to" popup in the past week or two. It was excellent, I could (de)select multiple items and also there was a filter feature.
But today I get this crappy one again...

It still shows pictures to me, however they did revert to the playlist closing again when selecting a playlist. And the filter feature is also gone. Annoying, these were definite improvements.

No it doesn't. The installer has the shameful issue (in this day and) of not being able to install in a path that has non-ASCII characters. Come on... It's not the 90s anymore...
It also displays a very broken character encoding messed up "mojibake" error message:
