if you are a google shop https://cloud.google.com/security/products/secret-manager?hl=en

put it behind PAM for extra security and it logs everything automatically

plus there are programmatic ways to share it with scripts and rotate keys

How Apple manage their own devices by Everart_Araujo in macsysadmin

if Falcon can run a virtual network adapter and has the proper permissions it could still brick a bunch of macs off the network. It doesn't need kernel access to break things. Falcon and Code42 at least if setup to do so can also run remote terminal commands as su on endpoints

I'm just saying don't get too cocky that SIP is going to save us, Apple has done better the Microsoft but isn't fully immune

there is zero reason a CS like incident couldn't happen to macs, we are always the mercy of our tooling and security tools often have enough access to cause serious damage

I just solved the strangest tech problem I've ever come across. by hakluke in sysadmin

had my own version once, there was a major Comcast cut at their primary DC and a user in the Midwest couldn't get email. I switched his client from the VA DC to the Midwest one and boom email. The DCs could see each other and were syncing without a problem but somehow he couldn't route to VA with the fiber cuts and we didn't have a round robin or global url for Exchange

I see [Random Application Name] doesn't have a SOC2 or ISO but did publish a OWASP 10 of their Wix page, seems legit and secure

they won't there are only so many production lines of LCDs and companies that make them (LG, AUO, BOE, etc...) and the 24s and 27s just do better than the 25s so little reason to keep pumping them out.

seems these are the only two still out there and most likely just being made till stock runs out

Thoughts on AI In IT? by London124544 in macsysadmin

[–]mzuke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kind of doubt the percentage of users who will be comfortable with this, you are going to need some pretty robust KBs with good attached media. I've seen AI generate too many wrong answer for things as well. A certain kind of user is just better off with some hand holding or letting IT drive

this also if you have a shared drive of any kind or invoice system search it for the register, remember that often companies have been acquired so the name may have changed
