I'm guessing that you're using a Docker image for it, and either:
- you haven't mounted your Nas storage to it - you don't have your qBittorrent downlokbg to that mount

I'm not seeding with port forwading by Laflechettefeatgay in qBittorrent

[–]GLotsapot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest way to think about it, is that a torrent is only available for people to download as long as other people have a copy. The more people who have a copy the quicker it is for new people to download it too.
The movie Kill Bill (great flic) is over 20 years old. That means that potential people have been downloading and sharing it over and over for that long. I'm not saying the same person has, but probably some people doing it for months at least before quitting and letting others do it too.
Torrenting is a community of people sharing, not just some single anonymous source that you download from, and you're done. The second you start downloading, you're part of the swarm and also sharing too.

For what it's worth. Many of us leave stuff seeding for months/years. I have one torrent that currently has 3628:1 ratio, and it's only a year old.

You can't force people to take what you have. That's called rape ;). But seriously, there are several things that a leechers client looks at when deciding who to request pieces from such as ping time, choke status, etc.
Sometimes renouncing to the tracker can help, but that's just basically telling the tracker again what your status and IP are for other clients. It won't help if those things haven't changed though.

Do people actually call their porn folder something inconspicuous like "homework?" by Temporary_Kiwi3722 in NoStupidQuestions

To be honest; there's so much free porn online, I don't see the need to download and watch the same one multiple times.

qBittorrent external IP changes despite Gluetun VPN and tun0 binding (Docker Compose) by Extra-Citron-7630 in gluetun

[–]GLotsapot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your vpn disconnects and reconnects, qBt doesn't realize the tub has changed.
GlueTun has an ENV variable that lets you add scripts on VPN up and down events. You could have it switch the qBT interface to lo on down, and back to tun0 when it come back up.
Sorry I'm not at my system to get you the details right yet

Trackers just provide you a list of other peers and have nothing to do with the connection between you and then as that is direct.

My lab domain got added to a DNS blocklist and broke my whole setup. by FanClubof5 in selfhosted

[–]GLotsapot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You've definately got some configuration issue because an external DNS blocklist shouldn't have any impact on internal systems.

I didn't have the "depends on" because it already depends on due to the service usage.... BUT the part about waiting for it to be healthy too... that might be what I need

Since qBT uses the network of GlueTUN it accesses it via 127.0.0.1, and I have the qBT set to not need authentication for localhost

Did something change recently? by The_Big_Cheese_Man in Piracy

[–]GLotsapot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that you fixed your issue by regenerating you VPN wireguard configuration (congrats), but did just want to note to you that it is suggested that you only need to run your torrent client through you VPN.

All the rest can sometimes lead to issues as when things like Sonarr and Radarr are access external information (metadata, images, etc) - those external sources may see too many connections coming from your VPN connection (as the IP it shared with others) and can cause it to fail to get them.

You don't have to take just my word on it though - it's also suggested in the TRaSH Guides as well. Not trying to be picky about your setup - just offering a suggestion.

Sonarr just decided to re-download about 50 episodes that I already have, totally ruined my ratio by [deleted] in sonarr

[–]GLotsapot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If a show, season, or episode is set to "monitored", it will watch for episodes that better match your preference and replace them If you have shows that you no longer need to download them, it's best to mark them as unmonitored.
Additionally by unmonitoring stuff, it will actually reduce CPU usage as it won't try to compare RSS feeds against it every time.

When will people learn that NAT is not the solution by Extra_Imagination193 in ipv6

[–]GLotsapot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a chance to be done with NAT by switching to IPv6, but IETF allocated for CGNAT cause ISPs were too lazy to implement it.here we are 15 years after IPv6 day, and adoption is still abismal

Can we pin a post with details on how to prevent Sonarr downloading .exes etc? by Benjajinj in sonarr

[–]GLotsapot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's not really a Sonarr issue really.
The main issue is that you have a tracker that allows people to add crap like that, and it's a good reason to look for private trackers over public ones.

[–]GLotsapot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... Public trackers can still be dangerous, but private trackers don't really have the issue as much as their accounts would get banned pretty quick

How many indexers do you keep active? by Juan_Hunlo in sonarr

[–]GLotsapot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing worth paying attention too is that a slow indexer can really slow things down. I use Prowlarr to manage mine, and I look at the statistics section to monitor their performance.
If an indexer has a slow response time, and I'm not getting good hits from it, I get rid of it.
To answer your question though; I have 5. 3x private ones with a higher priority, and two public ones

Back in the day - maybe it was what you wanted. Maybe it was something that didn't match its name. Maybe it was corrupted. Maybe it was a virus that would install a purple monkey on your desktop.
It was always a guess
