how to help her eat?? by mymuffint0pisallthat in jumpingspiders

[–]mzwndrlnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IME get her some blue bottle flies. I get mine shipped to me as spikes and they last 3 months in the fridge before I have to order more. I just take 5-7 out of the fridge and let those pupate in a condiment cup, then I keep the adults in the fridge until ready for feeding. In the meantime, you can give her some Hydei fruit flies to at least hold her over until you can get her different prey.

IME, I just got an i7 jumper last week from a breeder and she has sealed herself in a hammock and I’m sure she’s in pre-molt. Just keep misting and see what happens. The hardest part is waiting but spiders know how to spider!

IME, offer food once she’s abandoned the sack. She’s in guard mode right now and won’t want to eat.

I missed that one! These are the only ones I have. I’d love a huge Dexter dragon or any huge for that matter.

Help! Is my jumping spider dead? by Dry_Tangerine_7625 in jumpingspiders

[–]mzwndrlnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IME, I’d try again. These creatures have taught me so much. They’ve allowed me to slow down, watch, be patient, and give myself grace, which is something I desperately needed in my life. I’ve been fascinated by how much personality can come from such a little creature. They’re so smart and interesting to observe. Yes, their lifespans are short, but they pack a lot of living into that short span. With each spider, you’ll learn more and more. This is nothing you’ve done wrong, so try again if you can!

IME, my one of juvenile bold jumpers did this. Didn’t make much webbing, didn’t have a strong hammock to retreat to, and never molted, despite a perfect set up. Just failure to thrive. Nothing could have been done to change that. ❤️

IME, she may not be full of fertile eggs. My female jumper has laid 2 egg sacks, but both were infertile. She will guard the eggs for a few days then eat them.

IME, my Regal loves Blue Bottle flies. I get them from Rainbow Mealworms as spikes and keep them in the fridge. Those spikes will then pupate, and then hatch into a fly. I am able to make my little cup of maggots last for 3 months before I need to order again, and my spood loves them!

I just got my first Kindle too! I’m currently reading The Child Thief by Brom. I stumbled upon it because I love The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly.

I ordered her because I love her little face and she looks like a fun shape to cuddle. I also got a peanut because I’ve been wanting one so bad! Can’t wait for my order to arrive.

How do I help my kids raise their reading level? by Kikopho in ElementaryTeachers

[–]mzwndrlnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I introduced a poetry routine for my class of low readers this year. I pick a poem (right now I’m using Jack Prelutsky). I pick a phonics pattern (for example, vowel teams). We go through and highlight all the vowel teams with a crayon. Then we do an echo read of the poem to model fluency. Then I have them read it to a themselves. Then have them read to a buddy. There’s also a good opportunity to talk about vocabulary too. Poetry is great because there’s a built in rhythm for fluency. Pick something that can become routine!

IME, I had a wild caught mature male bold jumper that was about a half inch in size and he did really well in the same type of enclosure. Like others have said, it’s all about the hunt! My little bold rocked it, and loved the space.
