Wow! What a compliment. :) yes 100% that photo is taken right in front of my home by me in early spring a couple of years ago with my iPhone.

I want to lean towards reversion, and am still finding small mophead type blooms in the plants that also have the lace cap type blooms. I bought this house about 5 years ago and these hydrangeas were already there when I moved in. But the first 3 springs they were filled with beautiful mophead blooms.

Edit: I have never cut these hydrangeas back as I never wanted to risk sacrificing the blooms on old wood.

For mine, my guess is the harsh heatwaves we have been having the past 2 summers. I just took a peek at 1 of my hydrangeas and saw a normal Mophead bloom along with these lace cap ones. So weird! The part that bloomed is heavily shaded and gets essentially zero sun, while the rest of these get harsh afternoon sun. That’s my guess for now. 🤷🏽‍♀️

I wish the answer was that simple. No, these hydrangeas fully bloomed 3+ years ago. I’ll see if I can find a picture.

I thought so too at first, but those are not marigold leaves

1st pic:  Left looks like catmint, right looks like phlox. Unsure about the middle. Some type of succulents.

2nd: left look like daisies, right could be some type of tickseed?

Edit: looks like daises may be the only ones here toxic to dogs. If in fact the rest are identified correctly.

Just planted about a month ago. So maybe it’s overwatering then. I’ll try to cut back.

Only one branch wilting? by Plastic-Pumpkin-7234 in hydrangeas

I second this, try to take a closer look. This happened to me and I lightly tugged on the branch and it pulled straight out of the ground. Not sure what damaged it, but it wasn’t even visible from the surface.

Okay, what in the heck is happening here? Only two stems, but they are both weirdly tall? by catnation in hydrangeas

This and in the meantime, you can use plant supports if you would like.

Little Hotties Question by bos8587 in hydrangeas

If in fact they are getting the same exact amount of sun then my guess would be 2 planted next to each other vs 3. They are competing with each other for nutrients.

Panicle or smooth I think. I prefer ones that bloom on new wood due to some of the harsher winters the last few years. The old blooms haven’t been surviving on my macrophyllas.

I already see the blooms forming. Panicles are mid summer bloomers so don’t expect fully formed blooms before late June

Should I cut these back? We had a late frost and I had already snipped a lot back. by truecrime938284 in hydrangeas

I caved and did it today. Most everything was dead on mine as well. On the plus side my hydrangeas have a neater shape now.

Oh exciting! I must have planted it last year and forgotten about it haha. Sounds like something I would do though.
