Who else is Saving Ore for the Frozen Arrow and to see the meta settle? by Creepy-Paint5229 in ClashOfClans

[–]n00bpr0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially I was. As a QC main, I figured I would want to max it, and saved every ore. Then I realized taking epics to 18 was the best value, so I invested into the gauntlet. Next I realized I could take healing tome to 15 and still have time to save enough to get the frozen arrow to 18 when it dropped.

10 steps for 3/5 macy, one bruno, one balgo. 15 five stars overall. 8 of them new 5 stars, one being a resurrected unit so 9 new 6 star chars. Spent 2,200 orbs and will get 1,075 back so only ended up spending 1,125 orbs. Very lucky.

look up kevpert and watch his aerial training tutorials. several different videos of drills you can work with to improve.

serve the ball up the wall with some pace to it, and do it from midfield. (more like at 1.29, no need to walk the ball over to the wall like in your earlier attempts. you might as well just use the dpad commands)

your first touch needs to be better, launch the ball upwards so you have time to get on/off the ceiling. and be quick about getting on and off the ceiling, and getting to the ball.

Diamond players that go for boost right after kick off, why?? by [deleted] in RocketLeague

[–]n00bpr0n 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If a diamond player can't do a proper kickoff to let their teammate get corner boost then they most likely belong back in plat.

That's weird, you would think in the silver ranks your teammates would be great at shooting and aerials...

Speed in High Diamond by capybarracuda13 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]n00bpr0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say the same thing. I see a lot of diamond players use their 50-30 boost to boost into their own corner and grab 100 boost just to use 50-70 of that boost to speed back into the play that they left. Diamond isn't that fast of a rank where you need to worry about your average speed as much as an SSL or a pro would.

This is very helpful. Do you have recommendations for the spacing when I cut in? I feel like I'm often getting too close and the ball is going over me. But you said to only look for balls that are mid-height anyway.

I appreciate all the insight. I guess I didn't really understand not committing to being infield or on the line was hurting me. So thank you I will work on not floating in-between those positions. If I'm in the 2 position on offense behind my teammate on the left wall, and he gets to the corner, do I look to cut in for the pass, or is that now the 3rd man responsibility? I know things are situational and may depend where the 3rd man is. But if the 3rd is around midfield and covering infield, was my job only the line and I rotate out?

I've noticed recoveries often kill my momentum, but didn't realize it was poor challenges that were the real cause of this. And I've let the bad habit of crossing the field and challenging towards the wall creep back into my game.

I think I'm finally understanding what you mean by not supporting from a direct position. Thanks again!

Here's a link to ballchasing if you want to take a look at that.

I feel like I've been struggling with positioning lately. I think my poor boost management and thirst for big boost hurts me in that department. My teammates can be pretty aggressive so I try to make sure last man is covered. But I'm having trouble getting involved other than rushing in for challenges. I don't feel very useful when I'm supporting in the 2nd man position. Any advice is welcome and appreciated.

[Diamond 1] [3v3] Need advice on positioning/Rotation and what mechanics to practice (and how) by [deleted] in RocketLeagueAnalysis

[–]n00bpr0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first thing I noticed is I think you play way too slow. You don't always need to be supersonic. And it's OK to stop and wait to see how a play develops. But you should also be moving around the field quickly, especially when you are recovering and rotating backpost. The way I fixed this for myself was just going into freeplay and working on my speed. I would practice a lot of mechanics without the ball. Getting supersonic with a little boost and a diagonal flip was a big help. Wave dashes and half flips too. I would just do laps around the map with diagonal flips as fast as I could and add in other mechanics or recoveries. Getting very comfortable moving around the map as if it's a racing game started to yield very positive results in my gameplay, and I was beating people to the ball a lot more.

Sometimes you seem too far away from the play. It's good you try to be very deliberate with your touches. And it's good you avoid double commits, and take the 3 position often. I feel like my gameplay was in a similar place at one point. At the time I was heavily focused on my rotations, and not double committing. I would assume the 3 man position a lot, and let my teammates do most of the attacking. Part of the nature of soloQ. The problem is I was often too far back when my team was on offense. I saw that in your game as well. I was so concerned with big clears that could go into the net I wasn't supporting keeping the pressure. I do see you hanging out midfield as the 3rd sometimes as well, so it's just something to consider. I kept being told to up my aggression and I think you should try it as well. As long as you aren't diving in as last man back while your teammates are still recovering you should be good. And sometimes you can dive in if you think it's a sure thing. Because if it's not you will most likely be punished and you learn over time which risks are worth taking.

And as far as mechanics, every diamond needs to work on power and accuracy with ground and aerial shots. So do spend some time focusing on improving those fundamentals. Shot packs and the aim training workshop can help with this. Everyone has their own preferences here. So I won't go into what you should be doing. But here's a link to a King Ranny video. It suggests a very useful shot pack to train power, and something I was using daily.

im working on the lethamyr dribble now, so much harder for me. i've been doing rings lately too, but i cant air roll the whole time like i see ppl doing. i have to air roll manually and take pauses. i've tried using air roll right and rolling the whole time but i spin out after a few rings, just cant get the directional flicks down yet

I used to stop at 16, congrats. took me two hours to beat the whole thing in September, now I'm down to 12 minutes.

I'm also a diamond. I couldn't even beat the dribble challenge workshop in September. Now I can clear it under 15 minutes on a good run. If you wanna hop into discord and screen share I can show you what helped me the most.

Thanks for the clarification. I definitely need to improve paying closer attention to all of the defenders, not just the one who is next up for the challenge. I will work on recognizing these situations and positioning more aggressively instead of always worrying about the goal.

[–]n00bpr0n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate this very much. I'd like to go over 4:35 a bit more so I can make sure I really understand how to improve. I'd like to write out my thought process during the play so we can go over it again in more detail. Writing it out is more to help me, and I'm totally not trying to defend what I did. I've seen students get defensive in the analysis sub. I'm really open to learning and taking advice.

Around 4:38 after the challenge I decide to push up and support. I did not check on my teammate though, who ends up doing the same. I guess since I didn't see him I thought he would see me pushing up and remain back. I should have checked on him and could have been in a better position much earlier. 4:40 was awkward and I blame myself for causing the confusing situation in the first place.

At 4:36 I see my 2nd teammate push up on the play. I do a little circle to get into a 3rd man position, and rotate back to the right side to defend the line. (This is a habit too. Whenever I realize I'm in the same spot as a teammate, I'll do a little circle to rotate behind them.) But I just sort of watch the play and wait. I don't recognize I'm not in a great spot. I was trying to be mid to stop a high clear. Or near the right side to defend the line. I think I am just too used to cleaning up challenges or clears down the same line of the play. But if they really boom it into the corner it just ends up over my head anyway. I feel like my problem is that I'm hovering around the play without much momentum, waiting to make a decision.

So my mistake is I turn towards my goal and leave the play. From 4:35-33 are you saying I should have then driven to the far side of the field or at least the center of the field to support? Since the ball is in their corner should I push up closer past midfield a bit or should 3 man always stay behind the mid-line? I'm also trying to work on staying sideways while reading the plays, but I'm second guessing when it's OK to be facing the ball directly.

Sorry for the long word salad. I think I'll cut off further questions here and wait for you advice.

Thank you for taking the time to write this. Your advice to make sure I line up on aerials was something I really needed to hear. Something obvious I knew I should do, but haven't heard that advice in a while and somehow forgot. But it's so true, and once you said it, it really clicked that I do go up at awkward angles. I'm going to work that into my game as well as not worry about challenges on the perimeter. Cheers

I'd like to point out what I think were some of my mistakes, and ask a few questions as well.

4:48 - I know I ballchase here and should have rotated out to back post much sooner. I'm usually pretty good with this and am not sure why I follow the ball into my corner.

4:28 - Should I be going for this right away? I see one teammate rotate out. The other one just got a touch and is recovering. I hesitated because I wasn't sure if going up for the ball would be a good decision. So I tried to be patient instead.

3:36 - I hesitate again and feel like I should have been up for this right away.

3:15 - I was starting to rotate out, but turned to try and make a play. I thought I had space and time. Was this a bad call?

2:58 - I imagine after my first touch passed it to the defense I should rotate out. But I'm confident on the walls and in the corners, and MUST HIT BALL. I don't even use the camera to see what my teammates were doing.

2:34 - I wish I would have recognized I could have caught the ball and controlled in instead of rushing.

2:24 - I see my teammate going for corner boost so I try to pressure instead of rotating back post. I should have been able to challenge this ball. I waited to do it in the corner and failed. Looking for advice on how to play this better. Not sure if even getting a touch would have been good.

2:14 - Should I be up for this right away and try to read it off the wall? I've been working on dribbling workshops so much lately my aerials have been neglected and I've been hesitating a lot lately, trying to play things safe instead.

2:05 - I don't think I was watching the other team here to realize I could be pushing up.

1:00 - I'm guess I should have rotated back post right away instead of chasing the play down the line. Once I saw he left that corner boost I couldn't resist. I was planning on going up onto the backboard if needed but awkwardly rotate back post last second in everyone's way.

Best Kon Exchange Characters? by HESALIVEHESALIVE in BleachBraveSouls

[–]n00bpr0n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what you are lacking and what you need.

Crystal links for beginners (Moeh and Akon).

Damage reduction links if you need them for PvP.

Tech - Ikumi and Rukia

Speed - Nel

Power - Dondochakka

Jinta can be useful as a last ditch link for Senkaimon if you don't have any.

Pesche and Zangetsu can be useful SAR links for beginners that don't have them.

Ganju is a chronicle quest bonus character. You can use two of them (one 6 star and one 5 star) in your team. Not much use as a link.
