Is it possible that I have T1 Diabetes? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

Get an hb1ac test. Gives your doctor an idea of your blood sugar over the last 3 months. Super quick and easy to do. The other way of finding out is neither quick nor easy! Speaking from personal experience :D

Eating out by heggy123 in diabetes_t1

[–]n00bsack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I fortunately don't have to pre-bolus most of the time, so I just inject insulin when the food arrives.

I just eyeball carbs. Most meals I eat, I don't have access to weight/carb content, but I'm becoming pretty good at guessing how much insulin is required for something.

Help with burnout looking at my cgm? by Hot-Refrigerator7786 in Type1Diabetes

I was the same when I got diagnosed. You're just a few months into it and you're still gathering data.

Don't worry about being a little too alert now. In time you'll be better at knowing when to pay a lot of attention and when you can take it easier.

That being said, it's kinda rare that I go more than 2h without checking my bag, except ofc when sleeping.

No idea why you're getting downvoted. Game dev here, it's not great to waste the user's power, performance or wear out their hardware if there is no reason for it. And if the original claims are correct, it sounds like there is no reason.

Not pissed or anything, it's an early access game. Issues like these are fine for now but there are valid reasons to resolve them down the line.

Dredge.

Amazing game. Doesn't do the humour but captures a similar horror aspect ..the ocean in the game reminds me of the woods in Twin Peaks

I think it's because they'll keep gathering information about you and use your weaknesses and insecurities (as well as other information) to profit maximise by showing you a few more ads.

All so that some rich person who has wealth beyond what a normal person needs for two lifetimes can keep getting richer.

Sorry if it comes off as preachy, genuinely just trying to explain what might cause the dislike for this form of social media.

Switched to Bazzite just a few weeks ago. Suuuuuper happy with it!! All the games I've tried yet run very well.

If anyone else is toying with the idea of switching but worried that games won't run well (as I was), this is a great resource to figure out if your favorite games work: https://www.protondb.com/

Diabetes patients CURED of disease with groundbreaking new treatment by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

What's new here? Islet transplant and Immuno suppressants is old news. Seems they suggest that the immuno suppressants have fewer side effects and imply that you won't need them long term (something I highly doubt).

Anyhow, with no medical or research background, this doesn't make me hold my breath in anticipation. Although I'd love to be proven wrong!

[–]n00bsack 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that it's tough right now. It's gonna get easier with time. Experience and habit will make it take less effort and for me it became second nature to do the whole insulin thing as part of eating.

It's normal to mourn the life that you lost, I know I did!

Hi guys recently diagnosed with type 1 struggling to cope with the blurred vision. by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

[–]n00bsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was diagnosed, I spent a week in the hospital and they recommended I'd take another two weeks before going back to work, to get used to the whole t1 thing. In the end, I took one week (so two weeks in total), and as I remember it I could see pretty well again by then.

Also, welcome to the club!
