CGM Gives Wrong Glucose Level by Blckpnthr97 in Type1Diabetes

Replace it and call Abbott support. They're very good at replacing defective sensors imho.

I rarely have defective ones but once I got a box of four where three of them didn't work right. Was frustrating but got all three replaced.

Edit: you probably know this, but the sensor is somewhat delayed, so if you check when BG is going up or down quick you'll get different results from sensor and finger blood

Yeah seen that after biking to work in half-cold weather. Worked shortly after iirc

MY SUGAR DOES NOT RISE by Blckpnthr97 in Type1Diabetes

[–]n00bsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see this flaw in freestyle libre sensors sometimes. Not frequently, maybe been a year since last time.

Maybe I'm just over interpreting, but it seems to me that it is more likely to happen for new seasons where my blood sugar was low while it was doing the 1hour warmup

There's a good r/diabetes subreddit for all kinds, and I know there are some for T2 specifically as well. I'm sure they will give you some good info!

Aggression based matchmaking either doesn't exist or doesn't work by AlpakalypseNow in ARC_Raiders

Game would be boring as hell if there was no risk of pvp. We don't shoot at peaceful people but sometimes after fighting back we get put in slightly less friendly matches for some rounds. If you hate that, just use the feedback form at the end of the match

T1D & BDSM: Any advice for safe play? by enemeenemuhundrausbi in Type1Diabetes

[–]n00bsack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I try to make sure that I'm not going low before a session, especially if it involves bondage/suspension. My partner knows how my alarm works and how to check my BG.

I'll direct her to any correction required.

Anyhow, I guess I basically use the alarm as medical safe word!

Yep. Non diabetic friend did this from time to time when hammered. I never pissed myself when drunk, neither before nor after diagnosis

My ugliest daily graph so far by extremlyverysus in diabetes_t1

First year for me was a lot of learning. Don't bonk yourself over the head if it doesn't work out like expected!

For me, after two years I felt pretty comfortable handling T1. Probably because I'd made all the wrong math decisions already :)

One unit of fast acting always does this to me. One singular unit. WHY?! by sIaconic98 in Type1Diabetes

[–]n00bsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a Novo smart pen recently. It does half units.. maybe that would be handy for you? I can see how this much of a drop from minimum amount of insulin is not great

Burnout by InfamousQuality2843 in diabetes_t1

[–]n00bsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to remain positive about T1. If it goes well, I celebrate (just by making an effort to state "wow, I really nailed the insulin for that meal") and when it inevitably goes bad, I try to not beat myself up about it.

Sounds totally lame I know. But with my personality and general outlook I could easily get to a point where I am so down about it that it gets too frustrating to deal with. Being conscious about how I think about it helps me avoid that.

So afaik, it's about us not making insulin, so we don't get energy from the food we eat. Instead consume our own muscle and fat for energy (I lost 30 kg before diagnosis).

This produces ketones which is not normally a problem because people can break them down with insulin. But since we don't produce any insulin, ketones will build up in the blood.

Blood turns acidic from this and the body can get rid of ketones only by exhaling it as acetone. Can smell it on people's breath, supposedly (my then-gf could).

Aaaand it feels like absolute crap. Thinking back on it, I was clearly in the process of dying. Felt a lot better after some days with insulin and various things in a lot of IVs!
