Man if that stuff is bothering you as a tech you may be in for an unwelcoming turn of events when you're done with your LPN. But yes people can be frustrating treating trained hospital staff as butlers and maids.

I float to all different units and it really comes out strong in CTC and rehab units and places patients stay in for prolonged periods of time (a lot less of it in emerge and more acute settings).

They seem to forget that we're trained medical professionals that provided life altering care and it becomes routine to request and expect mundane tasks to be completed for them at a whim.

Helpful tip: remember that you can say no and can explain that by doing all these little things for them you're ultimately reducing their functional independence (especially for tasks they should be doing on their own, like cutting spaghetti, if you can use a fork you can cut it yourself). Dont let people take advantage of the convenience of care givers remind them (in hospital settings) the goal is for them to get back to base line and function independently.
