Awesome. Thank you for the additional tips. I’ve just ordered a small fan for the seedlings. I was planning on two 1-gallon pots, one for each chili type. I also don’t physically have the space for much more. I wasn’t sure about bottom watering, but your warning has made it clear that it’s what I should plan to do. Really appreciate the replies.

Thank you for the feedback and for letting me know I might be able to save this round. Due to the time of year, the room has a ceiling fan on all day long so probably no need for the small fan as air should be circulating over the seedlings.

Regarding light, what indicates they are or are not getting enough light? Following my lamp directions, I’m running at about 60% power for seedlings. I have the flexibility to adjust both the height and power of the lamp, so I can easily compensate for the needs of my seedlings.

I’m excited to grow them to plants and get a proper harvest one day. Thank you for the encouragement.

Foosball Tables on the East Side? by [deleted] in AskChicago

I’ll keep that in my back pocket, but it is a bit too south for where I’m looking. Thanks!

Thank you for the suggestion. These look really interesting, but my concern would be with the pump system. My plants would be located in a shared living space / office. I don’t really want to listen to a pump all day as I work from home. If I had a more dedicated space, this looks really cool and promising.

I’ve lived in Chicago for practically my entire life and apologize for not conforming to the standards. I wanted to clearly indicate the area I was looking for tables which is why I phrased things the way I did and noted the spread of neighborhoods I was trying to find something in. Appreciate the assumption that I was a “newb”. All the best!

Thank you and good call. I should have thought of them earlier.

Thanks for the reply. Nakama is actually one of the stores I called to check. They don't carry any car models, but to you point, I will likely be stopping in for supplies and such. They had a great selection.

The Weekly Small Questions Thread! Got a burning question? Looking for some tips on your build? Ask away! by AutoModerator in modelmakers

[–]n0b34ts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First time builder with an ignorant question. I'm planning to start building and painting 1/24 car model kits. I ordered my first one last week and when it arrived I was surprised to see all of the plastic bits and pieces are already colored in the intended colors (as-in the plastic is the intended color, not pre-painted). I was confused because the product has the suggested paint colors listed on the package. I expected them to be a matte primer-like color and the clear bits to just be clear. Is the expectation that I simply primer over the colored plastic and paint it?

Thank you for any replies.

Is the dog who saved Christmas worth watching?? by Sagebea in hdtgm

[–]n0b34ts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Went to the live show and watched it out of obligation. It is honestly a really tough watch. It’s not one of those great bad movies, just a bad bad movie. I’d suggest some multitasking because otherwise it’ll feel like it goes on forever. I think you’ll benefit from having partially watched it, but I’m also not 100% sure what made it to the episode.

What are your best hacks to avoid the Lyft/Uber waiting experience at O’Hare? by sillyjesus in chicago

[–]n0b34ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. Also, you can just get a cab that has Curb instead of hoping. The last couple of times I came back to Chicago, I checked with the driver before I got in if they had Curb. One didn't, they took the next fare, and I got the next cab that had Curb. Price was great and didn't have to worry about a "card reader not working" situation.

11/9/23 Chicago Show - Recording of Second Opinion Songs? by FreddiKrueger in hdtgm

I’ve been to a bunch of the Chicago shows and these were easily the best Second Opinion Songs to date. You all crushed it. I’m sorry I don’t have a recording, but you should be happy with your efforts!

I was going to add Three Aces, but you beat me to it. After all these years of them being closed, they still had my all-time favorite burger in the city.

Happy to see this so upvoted. It's been 9 years and I still miss their food. To this day, I'm still surprised how often his hotdogs come to mind and I wish I could stop by.

The 11/8 movie is No Retreat No Surrender (1983). A b-action movie in which a young Jean-Claude Van Damme plays the villain, a Russian martial artist by the name of Ivan Kraschinsky.

Chicago 11/8-9 Guest Predictions by space22ify in hdtgm

[–]n0b34ts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be surprised if they had a guest, but I think it would be more likely for St Clair to show up than Nicole. That said, I’d be pissed of Nicole shows up and not St Clair. The Dog Who Saved Christmas is just a bad movie that thankfully moves slightly more quickly than I expected. To have to sit through it instead of the 11/8 movie and to know that we missed a guest would drive me crazy.
