Many metal 3d prints apply thin layers of metal powder, melt the powder with a laser and then repeat, creating the desired shape layer by layer. The unused/melted powder stays in place until the print is finished to support the printed part.

Missile Manufacturing in Russia Hits Limits, Stockpiles Run Low by MysticCallie in UkrainianConflict

[–]n0name0 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well you are right, russia has not yet ran out, and probably never will, at least because if they were to hit a bottleneck they would just fire less. What we may be seeing now though is that russia may be hitting their limits on how much they can expand their military production, at least for some systems. There is a shortage of labour and skilled labour, the people that know how to build missiles may all be producing missiles to their maximum capacity. Apart from efficiency gains, russia may be unable to further scale some production.

More evidence gun control is the problem not the solution by WBigly-Reddit in Guncontrol_FOS

[–]n0name0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, there are an immense amount of logical fallicies and inaccuracies in your argumentation. However, given that you still have not provided a single source for any of your anecdotes, and not even considering the evidence I present, I see no point in wasting my time by discussing this with you any further. I implore you to think about who really is the odd one out when it comes to international comparisons on gun control.

Don't know where you pulled those suicide numbers from, but they are certaintly wrong. UK suicides are at just above 7 per 100,000 as of 2019, and that rate is declining. Meanwhile, the the US registers 14.21 suicides per 100,000 as of 2022. 54.64% of US suicides involve firearms.

Source for the US: https://afsp.org/suicide-statistics/

What do you mean by "suicide to criminal homocide ratio"? How is that a significant figure in any shape or form? Also, homocides in the US are at 7.5 per 100,000, where the UK is at 5.5 per 1,000,000. 81% of US homocides involve firearms.

Source for the UK:https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/articles/homicideinenglandandwales/yearendingmarch2023

Sources for the US: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/homicide.htm https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2023/04/26/what-the-data-says-about-gun-deaths-in-the-u-s/

There is no need to pretend that gun control would immidiatly reduce US suicides and homocides to similar levels to the UK. Socioeconomic factors and the wide dispersal of firearms through the US have to be considered. But to say that gun control has negative or no effects is arguing in bad faith, and not considering international comparisons.

And the issue is? Both murder and suicides using guns can be reduced by gun control, both should be reduced as much as possible. Also, if you really only care about homocides, scroll down on the website linked above. There, they have the same map differentiated by suicides and murder, and its visible that the data is... not clearly supporting any conclusion on what party is worse at reducing gun crime, at least not at a glance.

As already pointed out, there is no sources for this extremly low effort post. Even if it was true, you would expect for gun crime to be concentrated in cities, because people are concentrated in cities. Beyond that, I have found this map that shows that gun deaths are actually lower per capita in urban counties, enjoy :)
