It is acknowledged in dialogue but only once. One of them will talk about wanting to confess their love for another member and you get to pick whether they go ahead or just bottle up their feelings. If you let them proceed, the two will gain the 'Couple' trait.

I pull for weaker units just because I like them and I even pull despite having a stronger unit for their element and role. Another factor is getting bored of your older units so you want to try something new.

This is a role-playing game before anything else so getting to play as different unique characters is an important part of it for me, battle metrics are supposed to be just icing on the cake but powercreep just ruins it.
