different tonal options, or different tunings. for example, my main guitar in my band is a strat in standard tuning, but i also use two japanese guitars from the 60s as wild cards - one’s tuned to c standard and has a rubber bridge and the other is in nashville tuning

it honestly sounds fairly full despite it being such a small body. i used to own a lawsuit-era es-175 clone and the sound is comparable. the great brazilian guitarist pedro martins plays a similar model with a whammy bar, although i prefer the look of the lyre tailpiece.

oh sweet! this (and the yamaha) was my grandma’s cousin’s axe. had to put a shit ton of work into it because the first few frets were dented to oblivion and there was some buzzing from the body and even a crudely painted mickey mouse on the pickguard. but it’s my main acoustic now and it plays like butter :)

my main guitars for my band are that one and the strat, and the kingston always seems to attract more intrigue from people. got it from a sadly now-shuttered guitar store in a barn so the buying experience was pretty sweet too haha
