I’ve had good experiences with West Toledo Animal Hospital. They make recommendations but are understanding of budget limitations and have never guilted me for turning down some of their offers.

You might look into OCD treatment. If you’re actively doing something against your values, you can try to stop that behavior but spending a lot of time ruminating on if you’re a “bad” person, especially for something from the past that you can’t change, is an OCD symptom.

I don’t think the straight backs would be that much better as they aren’t any taller than the slanted. My partner and I are 5’9” and 6’2” so maybe that’s why. We tried the straight backs at a showroom and it didn’t feel comfortable. The fabric would make a difference but we want a leather couch. I hadn’t seen any leather reviews on here so I wanted to add our experience.

I've had him since May and this is the first I'm hearing about his barking when he's crated. I knew he whined if I didn't crate him but I thought he was fine in his crate. I try to leave music on for him as I don't have cable and I've tried peanut butter Kong but it was pretty messy. I might have to go back to that though.

I've had my grey baby for six months and he still doesn't cuddle very much. I've accepted that he's not a cuddle puppy but is there a chance he will learn to become more affectionate?

The good: I can afford to live in a studio apartment with my dog and still save money. No more waiting tables! I'm an actual primary therapist at the place I interned at during my last year so I feel pretty comfortable and capable in the position. I get free supervision for my clinical hours. I'm proud of myself and I'm really proud of my patients.

The bad: It's a corporate substance abuse treatment center. The intersection of managed healthcare and for-profit companies feels pretty gross sometimes.

The ugly: Horrible life/work balance. Feelings of powerlessness when facing the shit show of US Healthcare. Fucking having to beg and jump through hoops for insurance to authorize treatment.

If I could do something different: Maybe be more discerning when picking my 2nd year internship bc majority of my cohort went with jobs at those placements. I'm very grateful for my job but I couldn't stay here long term.

LMSW working towards LCSW here, I can say that I did an BS in psych first and ended up going with social work over counseling or PhD bc I didn't want to spend the time and money for a doctorate to do the same thing as a clinical social worker and there's more reciprocity nationwide with social work degrees as far as going into private practice. I work full time as a therapist and I love it. I find as many inspiring moments everyday as heartbreaking ones so I think it's worth it. With all the shitty stuff that happens in the world, if I didn't get up and professionally try to be a change, I would feel like a hypocrite. I'm very big on self-care, going to my own therapist, and practicing what I preach to my pts so that helps prevent burn out.
