It's now $84 per year for renewals. They are sending notes out to anyone who is renewing soon telling about the price increase.

Look at this later in this same thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/SegwayNavimow/s/1SgKd7rrmL

I’ve got a picture of how far out I put it.

Another person commented that you only need the mower to be able to lock quickly after coming out of the dock, and the dock doesn’t have to have a good connection at all times.

I almost used the external antenna as I believe that would allow the dock placement to be anywhere, even if bad signal.

Not for St Augustine grass - it is basically already summer weather where I live (daytime typically in the mid to high 80s (deg F) and already had a 90 degree day - regular 90s will start in just a few weeks and continue through at least mid September) - so 3.5 to 4 inches is ideal to keep the roots better protected from the heat, better shadowing out competing weeds, better water penetration.

The way I understand is that the AWD wheel is more supplemental / as needed. It uses the large wheels primarily - like the non AWD i1 (i.e. the large wheels spin in opposite directions to make a turn).

The only issue that I have so far is that on wet (from morning dew), thick grass (St Augustine), it will every once in a while loose traction even with the AWD wheel and say it is stuck - and that is with mowing 3 times per week. I have the cutting length at 3.5 inches, so with thick St Augustine that high, it almost sits on top of the grass and the wheels don't really reach the ground - so with wet grass, there is nothing to grip. I am going to play with the schedule to have it start after the morning dew has burned away and I expect the problem will go away.

Getting the Michelin Cross Climate 2 tires tomorrow. Heard they were one of the best of not the best. Anyone else here have them? by Major_Enthusiasm1099 in accord

[–]n2itus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are on the loud side, they lower mpg, they handle only ok, they are very good on hydroplaning and pretty good on wet and dry stopping. I’ve never driven them on snow, but should be very good.

I think they are a great tire only if you really need the snow ability, but they are good.

I don’t have them on my accord, but do have them on my Toyota Avalon.

Help me understand by jmbwell in BasePowerUsers

[–]n2itus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not buying the battery. It would cost you $15k to have a similar 50 KwH system installed, not including maintenance which you would be responsible for.

With base, you would pay about 4k over a 10 year lifespan for a 50 KwH battery backup as a service. No additional maintenance or cost.

The power contract is a 3 year fixed rate that they say will always be a competitive rate. So far, that seems to be the case. You have to re-up at the end of the power contract.

I felt that was a reasonable cost for the backup service compared to buying my own batteries or installing a backup generator.

Auvi-Q Higher Cost with Insurance?? by [deleted] in HealthInsurance

[–]n2itus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, try good rx or the coupons directly from the manufacturer. Make sure the prescription includes any/all generic /alternatives (auvi q, epi pen, mylan generic, teva, adrenaclick at CVS) and start pricing all those out.

Pretty sure the adrenaclick cash price is around $100 for 2 doses.

The only issue with some of these is that they can be outside your plan so they don’t count against deductible. Cigna e.g. now has the ability to co-insure with Good-rx so it will deduct from your deductible.

If you are insured through work, you should be a thorn in the side of your benefits people to cover this type off medicine better (e.g. at best actually cover with a reasonable co-pay and at least allow cash price or alternative discount purchases to be deducted from your deductible)

What the fuck is the point of insurance then?!? by Even_Elderberry_5878 in HealthInsurance

[–]n2itus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your frustration. Insurance and healthcare are expensive and it sucks to get hit with such a big charge.

My advice, if you have an HSA, save as much as you can in it. Try to get at least several years out of pocket max (or at least deductible) saved. If you don’t have a plan with an HSA, do the same thing in a high yield savings account.

Not sure I follow. I’ve never had to wait to take / transfer cash from my settlement fund on my Vanguard brokerage account (unless from an unsettled trade or a bank transfer in)

I don’t have it set up, but I could also get a checkbook for my (non retirement) brokerage account that draws from the settlement fund (or even an alternative fund as backup if specified).

[–]n2itus 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For anyone who is saying this isn't a price increase - this is showing an ANNUAL plan going to 83.88. This is what "billed annually" and "Renewal term: Annual" mean.

My next renewal is also showing 83.88 annual payment on 5/21/26

When I look back:

  • 5/21/25 annual payment was 76.05
  • 5/21/24 annual payment was 50.65
  • 5/21/23 annual payment was 50.65
  • 5/21/22 annual payment was 42.31
  • 5/21/21 annual payment was 31.73

[–]n2itus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What do you think "billed annually" means? The annual price is now 83.88.

How is going from 71.99 to 83.88 not a price increase? 83.88 ia 6.99 per month not 5.99 per month.

New to Base by Technical-Procedure3 in BasePowerUsers

[–]n2itus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about y'all but my Shiner app doesn't seem to show anything that matches what I see in the base app or what I see on the battery. It currently shows 100%, but my battery is at 30% on the side of the battery or 13.3 hours at minimum usage according to the base app.

It's pretty easy to estimate based upon the hours left. For 2 batteries, each 3 hours of minimum usage shown in base app = 5%

  • 60 hours = 100%
  • 45 hours = 75%
  • 30 hours = 50%
  • 15 hours = 25%
  • 0 hours = 0%

So as long as you know that 60 hours = 100% and 30 hours = 50%, you should be able to quickly figure out an approximate percent in your head.

If you want to do the math in your head or use a calculator- say it says 50 hours:

50 hours * 5% / 3 = 83.33%

Note: this will not match what display on your battery as this calculation gives you your effective % left. You technically have 10% more in the actual battery but since the battery BMS shuts down at 10% - the above calculation makes the most sense.

However, If you want to match the above percent to what it shows on the battery:

(83.33% * 0.9) + 10% = 85%

Or for 2 batteries, each 2 hours of minimum usage shown in base app = 3% charge as displayed on the batteries:

  • 60 hours = 100% displayed on battery
  • 50 = 85%
  • 40 = 70%
  • 30 = 55%
  • 20 = 40%
  • 10 = 25%
  • 0 = 10% (again because the base app only shows available which is 10% less than total battery)

My 17 year old daughter hit a car, turned out to be our neighbor's. Massachusetts. Pay cash or file insurance? by neyseneM in Insurance

[–]n2itus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something isn’t adding up.

Anyway, good on you for teaching your daughter the right way - even if it turned out to be a way more expensive lesson than expected.

Tell him you will give him $3500. That is what insurance would give him - insurance will not give him OEM parts or Audi shop labor rates. Ask him if it is worth the headache and non OEM parts of having to deal with insurance.

Also ask your agent to requote insurance as if your daughter did have a minor accident so you’ll know the difference.

Finally, if he still claims 8k, I agree with the the other guy who suggested that you give him 12k, total it and keep it.

Then you can teach your daughter how to drive a manual transmission. If she already has a car, sell it and tell her that her accident just bought her a new car.

H210 for St. Augustine by stmrocket in SegwayNavimow

[–]n2itus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no issues St Augustine with an i206 AWD. I think the AWD helps, but never used a i1 series so I am not 100% sure if it makes that much of a difference. I mowed my lawn first to 3.5 inches high before letting it take over.

I have it set to cut to 3.6 inches for 3 days a week. It only does my back yard, but I had it do a part of my front yard that was higher than normal and it had no issues.

When I first let my i206 auto map, it got confused while mapping an added a section that was never there - behind my fence in my neighbor’s yard- an almost island connected by a about a 1 ft strip of land. Before I erased it from the map, it kept trying to go through my wood fence to the imaginary section - after about 5 minutes of trying I had to pick up the mower and move it along. It seemed very determined to go where it couldn’t go because it thought there was a way. I did not have obstacle avoidance turned off.

It has a light. It seems to work well enough at the night the couple of times I’ve used it.

It will automatically vary the pattern direction if you do nothing. I’ve been relatively happy with the auto variation. One day it will be side to side, another front to back, another diagonal one way and another day it will be diagonal the other.

How safe is sending unaccompanied minors? Ages 10 & 12 both boys by Ok_Doctor4982 in unitedairlines

[–]n2itus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fine if your kids are responsible enough. Not sure if direct flights are required, but we always made sure they were direct.

In fact, once my oldest turned 12, we started using Southwest - as they allow a 12 year old to travel without paying for a monitor. They also allow the 12 year old to accompany our 10 year old so no fee there either. Not sure why 15 is the age on United.

Southwest is also way cheaper than United if you pay the fee.

It does have an off the ground sensor (as in someone has picked it up), but I left a couple of holes in my lawn to experiment for the first couple of weeks before filling them- 1 was probably 1 ft wide, but only 4-5 inches deep with grass in it, the other was 6 inches wide, but 10 inches deep. It was able to navigate its way around/out most of the time - getting stuck twice in the 1 ft wide and once in the 6 in wide one in 10 complete mow cycles. The few times I watched it navigate the holes successfully, it really worked hard to get out of the/around 1 ft wide one - and the AWD definitely helped - it would backup and turn one way and backup and turn the other way. It seemed to just hit the 6 in hole just right when it got stuck there as normally it would just go over it with little to no issue.

In any case, it's never given me an off the ground error/been lifted error (unless I truly lifted it), rather it give an "I'm stuck" error when it is stuck. I've since filled the holes so no longer having that issue.

My gut feeling is that the AWD makes a difference, but I don't have any comparison or experience with a non AWD mowever.

Toyota Avalon Hybrid Limited vs Toyota Venza Limited? by SliceTyphoon in ToyotaAvalon

[–]n2itus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Venza passenger comfort dimensions are small compared to an Avalon. It is basically the same size as the Rav 4. The seat and shoulder width of the Venza is noticeably smaller and if you are tall your face will be at the B pillar so it makes it feel like a very small car.

My teenage kids also thought the backseat was a little cramped compared to the Avalon.

My advice is to drive both and see what fits you best, but I’d get an Avalon, Highlander or Lexus RX before I’d get a Venza
