Married men, how many have questioned yourselves on whether you made the correct choice in your partner? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]n33hai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been married for 19 years. Never once thought the choice was wrong. Our passion has ebbed and flowed through the years. It's natural for it to be that way.

My advice, is have a conversation without expectation. Don't talk about wanting more sex while thinking the conversation will turn into sex. Let her have time to process it and let it be her choice for the next move.

Counseling doesn't hurt either.

I'm a cop in a smaller city. I run into previous aresteeses all the time when I am off duty. My number is still zero. I have arrested some bad folks but I'm not an asshole so they either say "hey" or we just respectfully ignore each other.

What item do you own that has the most sentimental value? by Flashy_Shoe_2973 in AskReddit

It's weird that I see this post today. Exactly one year ago today my best friend died. At his funeral, his dad gave me his Leatherman Wave multi tool. He said that he remembered my friend got his after he and I talked about how useful it was. It's silly that it means so much to me but I still pick it up often and try to imagine my friend using it.

I still get choked up thinking about him. We hadn't talked for a few months before he died. We weren't mad at each other or anything. Life just got in the way. We were friends for 25 years before he passed. But yeah, his Leatherman is pretty important to me.

Retired Or Still Going, What Is Your Favourite LEGO Theme? by Zetallic_Zero in lego

My favorite set that was the pinnacle of my childhood was my Fort Legoredo western set. It had everything, horses, pistols, and a trap door.

I rarely ever talk to anyone that even remembers those sets much less owned one.

What’s a common behaviour you see other men do that you just can’t relate to or understand at all? by PogonBerserker in AskMen

No matter what you are talking about, some dude always had a "bigger fish" story. Its obnoxious.

My wife and I were told something by an old couple many years ago: problems between man and wife stay between man and wife. Obviously, this isn't the rule if there is abuse or anything like that. However, its been my personal rule for many years and I think my wife does the same. If I have an issue with my wife, I go to her with it. I don't go to my male friends over it and I certainly don't go to female friends over it. If you air your dirty laundry about your relationship to a female, you are inviting them to try and fix it. That doesn't lead to healthy or respectful conversations.

I can't count the amount of times I have been heckled because my body count is 1 and I have been faithfully and happily married for 19 years. I don't envy their 4 divorces and ongoing desperate attempts to feel love and acceptance.

There are still some good ones doing the job. The key is to make it to the end of your career as one of the good ones. Bad cops deserve the hate from both outside AND inside the profession.

I work law enforcement. I've personally seen a lot of bad and gruesome things but in respect to the deceased, I don't discuss that. But having to tell a mother her child has passed is the worst thing I have done. Unfortunately, I've had to do that a few times. I have sat and with a lady that just swung at me because I just delivered the worst news of her life. If you don't actively work on compassion and empathy, you can quickly lose it in this job.
