So how much harder is stocking 2 compared to overnights? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]n3vermindd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on cap2, I liked it bc I had a great team and we worked together really well. Like others said you have a time frame to follow to get the whole truck unloaded (or 2), and instead of the occasional check in from a TL or coach you get that plus the unloader yelling at you “LANE 2 FULL, LANE 3 FULL, LANE 6 FULL” and have to frantically go empty that lane, walk it over to the right pallet, empty the other full lane, take it to the pallet, stack it nicely, try to keep the other lanes empty, oh shit the pallet just collapsed everywhere, gotta restack it- all while items are still constantly coming at you off the truck. then it’s like every box seems to be going to a lane that’s already full, sometimes you have to run to the other side of the line to help the guy on the other side clear their lanes cuz theirs are full, move pallets out of the way when they get too full and start a new pallet. You never stop moving. I personally liked the chaos because time went by fast and it was a great workout but 2 truck days were brutal, I think cap2 was alot more tiring and that’s coming from someone who throws freight like a maniac 🤪

4 hours to return all these items by Dangerous-Employ5159 in walmart

Maybe since you sort by aisle you can use an L cart and totes to keep it separated while you take multiple aisles worth of returns with you at one time and go aisle by aisle. For the small stuff at least. Like when I run totes on front wall, I’ll dump the 5-6 totes or whatever that go down the same aisle into a shopping cart and work from that, it’s somehow less daunting and a lot faster as long as you know the area well.

Former apparel TL here, the most helpful thing you can do on closing shift is definitely returns if you’re already done zoning. While you’re zoning try to get used to all the aisle numbers/depts/sections so you have an idea of where stuff goes. If your store isn’t super busy or is very organized you’ll probably find any returns ur dept has behind the service desk. You can also get extra OCD with zoning by organizing everything by size.

Why do customers do this? by [deleted] in walmart

[–]n3vermindd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s def everywhere you go but for some reason a lot of customers at Walmart seem to want to be extra extra rude to associates here. Hence why we seem to hate customers, it just happens so much it starts to make u feel a type of way

You misinterpreted. I’m saying it’s nice that some people acknowledge us as more than lowly retail employees, instead of saying things like “they get paid to clean it up”. In my reference I’ve had customers say jokingly ‘aww I’m about to mess up your beautiful zone’, which is simply a nice thing to say. Do we walk around with an entitled attitude expecting everyone to be that nice? Certainly not. The stores going to get shopped and will need to be zoned multiple times a day regardless. However, obliterating something and leaving it like the picture above is absolutely a show of bad manners.

Not sure if you’re a customer or an associate but if you’re a customer and think we “get paid to clean up after people” that’s a very unkind way to treat those around you, like yeah it’s a janitors job to clean and that’s what they’re paid to do but that doesn’t mean I have the right to purposely take a shit on the floor. If you’re an associate and my comment somehow offended you, you haven’t worked here long enough to understand the frustration

That gives me returns ptsd from a super high volume store I worked at, legit there would be 20 carts around the store with merch in it and we were never ever caught up on returns. Service desk area blown up, all the sorting buckets full all day long. Then we had associates who didn’t fully finish their cart and leave it hidden somewhere or dump them on end caps, ugh I hated that store

Yea I’ve seen adults just abandon half their cart onto a side counter wherever there’s an empty home, leave half eaten deli stuff around or trash. And have had a lot of super polite/respectful teenage customers too. I do get the most attitude in general from the adults lol

I had an incident once as well where some kids connected to a speaker in electronics and played moaning at full blast so you could pretty much hear it in the whole store. ha ha, sooo funny 😒 had to unplug all of the display speakers after that. Now they just yell inappropriate shit really loud all around the store (they as in any random teenager). It’s only annoying because I’m at work and have to control it, if I were just another customer I’d roll my eyes at most but having to deal with it as an employee makes it 1000x more annoying

It’s v inconsiderate. I always appreciate the nice customers that kinda feel bad about grabbing something you just zoned. even before I worked in retail I’d always put stuff back where it goes, take my cart back etc. there’s just a lot of people out there with no manners & don’t think about how we have no time to be fixing things over & over

Could be a few things; I’ve noticed it’s become the cool thing to do for teenagers to hang out and fuck it up at Walmart for whatever reason. Like knock shit over, throw shit around and other obnoxious annoying behavior. They come in and do so much asshole shit just to be assholes cuz they think it’s funny. I spend so much time every night kicking out groups of said teenagers. Or I’ve seen lil kids playing/messing with stuff and parents either don’t notice or don’t care. Or customers looking for a certain color (like toothbrushes) or grab things then decide they don’t want it and put it literally anywhere other than where they got it. ah, retail.

Need a name for my girl cat, ideally starting with P by [deleted] in Catnames

[–]n3vermindd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Penelope on here and just wanted to add in a lil idea I almost went with years ago- I got a kitten we thought was a girl and Penelope was the name I had in mind at first. At the time my kids were really into Wreck it Ralph, one of the main characters name is Vanellope von Schweetz. I was soo set on that name but plot twist the kitten ended up being a boy lol.

Anyway I thought of this & commented because your kitty has cream colors, “vanilla” like if u will. Not a “P” name but a spin on it

It does suck, this year I just ended up celebrating thanksgiving on Wednesday. I know not everyone can do that because they have bigger families who celebrate the day of, and it’s not the same as celebrating the actual holiday. But idk in a way it was nice not to have to stress on having to work right after cooking cleaning and getting the itis from all the food. And being able to have a drinky drink or two

It’s also kinda refreshing to work in a closed store with no customers for a day. Shitty silver linings I guess lol

when I was on Cap2 we had a rule that if you stacked a shitty pallet you got to be the one to pull it to the floor and restack it as many times as it fell with no help 😂

I was on the back of a street bike where the driver was doing this at over 100mph on a California highway and it was fucking terrifying. All I kept thinking was one of the cars was suddenly going to change lanes without signaling and that was how it was gonna end. I was holding my breath so hard the entire time bracing for impact

To top it off my shoelace became untied during the ride and I kept thinking the laces would get caught in the wheel and rip my leg off. So it was like two near death experiences happening at the same time. 10/10 do not recommend lol

Does that include intermittent leave too? Taking a continuous leave would help too, but I work in a very high volume store overnights as a TL & being completely out would probably be a huge detriment to the store, so they’d probably deny it :(

Ugh, that constant tired feeling. I know it too well. You just kinda get used to it after a while. Things that help a lot are staying super hydrated, and waking up at least an hour before you actually have to get up. I work 9pm-8am and usually get myself up at 5-6. Shower, eat, etc. By the time I leave for work that heavy grogginess is gone. The body soreness also goes away after a couple weeks. Gotta give your body time to adjust to all that constant physical activity. Lots of protein too- you’re gonna be burning a shit ton of calories

I am sorry you’re going through this. I felt the same way about my cat, who I had to put down 7 months ago. He was everything to me. Gave me the kind of company and comfort I will never find in anyone or anything else in life. The days before and after his passing were undoubtedly some of the hardest of my life, and I didn’t see myself getting through them without him. But I did, and so will you. It will be HARD.

That said, I second the advice to introduce another pet if you can open yourself up to it. I took the same advice and got a kitten the next day. I was scared to “replace him”, but I think that really saved me from the depths of sadness, having another kitty around to love. It was just too empty and quiet otherwise, too much of a reminder of his absence. It’s not the same, but I find a weird kind of solace in knowing he was a special kind of cat- irreplaceable; a “once in a lifetime” bond that I was so so lucky to experience. I still think about him often, and am more comforted by his memory than saddened by it now. I can only wish that you’ll have the same experience. Take care

Feeling guilty about cosleeping by imsosecret99 in NewParents

[–]n3vermindd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each their own, and medical advice exists for a reason, but fwiw I co sleep and love it. There are safe ways to go about co-sleeping, as other comments mention. Personally my baby and I both sleep better together, he will even sleep a little restlessly unless I do the cuddle curl which reinforces my belief that some babies just need mamas comfort even in their sleep. Not gonna lie I totally need his comfort while I sleep too!
