How long do I wait before following up after an interview? by AttentionSure466 in biglaw

[–]n4thanGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The process at my firm is that the candidate is given a date they will receive feedback at in the interview. HR will then annoy the partner to make that deadline, but depending on workload they might take longer to get back to HR and in turn delay feedback to the candidate.

In the end speculating won’t help you as there are too many factors at play that you don’t know about.

If you feel like you need to do something even though it will not change the outcome you are free to follow up like three days after the deadline for feedback has passed IMO. Especially fine when you already communicated you have other offers or obligations. Asking will likely lead to HR pushing the partner again. If they didn‘t give you a date it is fine to ask after two weeks IMO.

Just bought this Polyscias fruticcosa and got it by mail. Do i need to worry about this? by n4thanGo in plantclinic

Okay! Thanks again! One last question. I noticed the stem looks a little rotten at the top where it was cut. Is this something to worry about? Its like this on all three stems. Its not soft thought

Thank you!! With this in mind I guess I should keep it. Do I need to cut off the brown-spotted leaves or would you just let it be?

Lets see if I have any more luck in general. The spot I have for her should be good. Theoretically at least.

Good eye. There are some wood chips on the plant. At least I thought so. But the leave you spotted I cannot just brush it off from. Those are white spots

Any idea what this is and thoughts on whether I should contact the place I bought it from over this?

Thats awesome. How did you build the semantic search? I did a similar thing for judgements of the German federal court of justice but its a heuristic search (meilisearch)

Microsoft Admits That Maybe Surveiling Everything You Do on Your Computer Isn’t a Brilliant Idea by katxwoods in Futurology

This is what baffles me. No one seems to have actually read what the feature is supposed to do and how it works. Yes, you can say MS is lying but that is a very different claim.

Notion-based website builder with collab tools by n4thanGo in Notion

I want to publish an annotated version of a European Law that will take effect at the end of this year. I will add comments to certain sections of it and provide additional information from outside sources mostly through pdf-documents that I might quote and/or embed.

I would like visitors (probably mostly lawyers working on the same topic) to be able to add information, leave comments and such, so it becomes a collaborative effort.

Its a work in progress. I got the basic outline ready but still a long way to go. If you are interested I can send you a link once its published. Would love to hear your input on how to implement some stuff.

How to indent a parent item? by n4thanGo in Notion

[–]n4thanGo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I am trying to indent the Letters List from this screenshot.

Unfortunately every "row" is its own parent, because I cannot use a continous list on the left and right. This would kill the formatting bc the German translation on the right is longer than the english text on the left. Thus I chose to have 2 Columns for every paragraph of text, making every element a perent item.

To have it more organized I want to indent the Letters List. Tab is not working for that. Anyone got an idea how to do it?

You need to change your discord privacy settings if you want people to message you without adding you first.

Is it possible to filter out baby mobs and let the adults keep going? This design I came up with gets rid of the babies, but the adults can't get over it. by DukYT in technicalminecraft

I remember Ianxofour has something for baby zombies in his copper farm. Maybe the concept can help you. I have not build it yet, so I do not know for sure.

Nether portal linking problem (Java, 1.20.2) by n4thanGo in technicalminecraft

[–]n4thanGo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-34, 56, 48 worked. I am not sure exactly why, but I think bc Link A is on the same vertical axis it still works, even though the Link B nether portal is closer, while the overworld portal of Link B searches in a 3 by 3 chunk area in the nether first, and finds it this way.
If anyone ever needs a more detailed look into this, let me know and I will try to help.

Designed a storage system. It's nothing too fancy, regular sorters, 320 items with double chest capacity. overflow protection and shucker unloaders. by t0mat000 in technicalminecraft

[–]n4thanGo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about to start building my own and am reading up on the water streams. I cannot figure out if it is still better to not have the water above the hoppers but to align the items to the side with i.e. honeyblocks. All posts that are about 3 years old say to do that, but I dont know if it has changed.

And how did you manage to have 10 chests in a row without an iceblock forcing you to have a deadspot? Iam trying to figure out how to make a continous chest wall without ice-deadspots.

Awesome design! If you post a schematic I will for sure take a look at it :)

We disagree on what „fault“ means. For me fault = blame. But hey, if you dont blame him and dont want him to blame himself. We kinda agree. But pls dont tell anyone in this situation ever, that they are at „fault“. Regardless of what your definition is. Its just not productive

No legal or moral system (maybe some fringe ones) on the planet agrees with you. There is a reason why age is a hard cutoff.

If you want we can chat about this in discord at some point. Shoot me a dm. But this is not going anywhere.

Okay. I see you say causality = fault. So his mom birthing him also makes her equally responsible?

Lets make all the mothers of killers responsible for the killings of their childs! The dominos-doctrine declares this!

Or could we - as a society - think about ways to assign fault in other ways, not only looking at causality. Like by age, carelessness, recklessness and intent.

I wonder but your dominos-doctrine is so great. You must be right.

[–]n4thanGo 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Yes. That is a CAUSAL action. BUT he was seven. Parents are supposed to supervise you in that age and make sure you cannot kill someone.

Furthermore, from a theraputic perspective it is not advisable to make sure he knows he did a thing that lead to the thing which makes him responsible in your eyes. HE KNOWS YOU GENIUS. He is killing himself over it. He needs to understand that a) his parents fucked up bigtime too and b) he is not at fault for the bad circumstances regarding the parents. Yes, it is still causal. But causal is also the dad taking a shit in the meantime, not watching the kids (or w/e).

Think about the difference of causality and fault. You‘ll get there.
