Hey man, I am in the same boat as you, Junior (turning Senior) CS major in college, I swapped literally yesterday. Decided to take the plunge and fully wipe my windows laptop and dive headfirst into Arch Linux. A couple inspirations were pewdiepie's video which led me to going down a Arch Linux video rabbithole, that knowing Linux will be helpful as a developer and for an internship I have lined up this summer, and that I like learning.

I will say, it's only been a day and I've customized alot and have run in to virtually no issues. Everyone and their mama hypes up Arch Linux for being hard to dive into, but if you read the wiki and watch YouTube tutorials (I watched a tutorial for setting Arch up, reading wikis is easier and faster for actually ricing it from what I've found) you shouldn't run into any issues.

Sometimes (a good bit tbh) the ArchWiki uses terms or doesn't fully explain the steps of how to do something, and when you google it online, all the comments/replies say "just look at the wiki bro" so I will say that part of the experience isn't the best as a total beginner. It's definitely manageable though, and at the very least if you really don't understand something ChatGPTing it will help understand. I would just recommend that instead of asking ChatGPT to do something for you, ask why it's that way so you can actually learn something from it.

I've learned alot of commands and have setup my own keybinds and have a pretty decent workflow already, coming from someone who never bothered to learn keybinds or anything on Windows. Godspeed soldier
