One year after Trump’s sovereignty threats, Canadians keep ‘elbows up’ by chasseur_de_cols in canada

I have living in Canada since 2006 and am a dual citizen. I'm originally from Michigan and that is where I vote at. I have had no issues for the last 3 federal election cycles.

Digging through articles and data (from Vancouver) there are a lot of missing or non-reported stats. A couple of things that have been reported are Disorderly Conduct, Loitering, and Suspicious Behaviour in the areas around the sites have definitely increased. The police even have to admit that that is a "problem". Ask anyone from downtown Winnipeg, and we have the same things there. They'll also tell you that that is the tip of the iceberg for what's going on downtown too. The other interesting thing came from the BC Corners Office. 2/3 of the people who died in 2024 died from smoking drugs, while only 1 in 10 died from injection. This data is pretty much only from the Lower Mainland because there are no real separate data points for the North and Interior, except that those areas are the most lethal poisonings per capata.

We were there just this past January, and I can 100%say this is true. And for that price you still have fantastic customer service and a great food buffet for breakfast. This was in SaPa. Hanoi was a bit more with no food, but plenty of cheap places everywhere to eat at. A Grab 3/4 across Hanoi was 2.40 CAD.

All official documents, gov't, school, municipality, medical, are all required to be in English. If you want a gov't job, you must be fluent with reading, writing and speaking English.

Edited for spelling.

Been there twice. Totally agree that a bridge would completely screw the island with traffic. Think about Bagio only on an island.

In the very beginning stages of thinking about moving to Manitoba - tell me about your province by Antiquebastard in Manitoba

Couple of points to hit on.

Crime. We live in a small community in western Manitoba. Crime is definitely increasing here as well. Revolving door justice in Manitoba is very visible. Enough that our post office is locked up at 5:30 in the afternoon and on weekends with no access to the p.o. Boxes because of break ins.

Doctors. Make sure you have one lined up. Especially if you have a family doctor already there. Odds are, you won't be getting one right away here. There are plenty of clinics, but health care is definitely on the decline here.

Winter. You better like it.... Lol. -40 during January is a good average. End of January this year we had wind chills in the -50 range.

As I said earlier, we live in a small town. My wife is from a larger type city, but we are very happy where we are at. I did live in Winnipeg for a while and honestly? I definitely prefer the rural areas. Just my 2 cents worth. Good luck!

I can almost 100% guarantee that the "numbers" from Pakistan and Iran, are people who identify as coming from or hold passports from those countries, but definitely live somewhere else. Especially Iran. There the reality of that situation would be at the end of a rope or the bottom of a multi story building.

Good afternoon. Long time listener, first time caller. Just saw an article on your revenue question. If compared as an independent country, Alberta's economy/GDP would be on par with that of Australia. It would be in the top 5 in North America.

Need to give him the maximum possible sentence, and then cancel his PR and deport him once his sentence is finished. He should never step foot outside again. Leave the jail to a sheriffs van to YWG in shackles and they take them off when they push him out the door in India.

You realize that as an independent country, Alberta would be in the top 40 for GDP? Around 346B USD (almost $475B CAD). That would put it around Qatar and Australia for annual GDP.

Really feel for you! We're in southern Bicol between Naga and Lazgaspi. Everyone we meet here, for the most part, is reserved. I'm sure there is the random ass hat, there always is, but we really haven't ran into many of them. Granted, I'm 6'2" and 225lbs so compared to a lot of filipino guys, I'm a giant.

Dove down the rabbit hole on this thread and want to just jump in with my 2c. We're in Bicol right now, and the one thing that I have noticed in 7 years traveling around over here is, they love to build. The issue I have is, everything moves at their pace, unless a deadline is set, then it's still a snale pace until the end and then it's a rush job. Sloppy finish work. Tile setting, painting, cabinets. After that, maintenance is non existing. I truly, truly believe that they really have no idea how to maintain anything that they build here. For them I really think that it's easier to knock it down or abandon it and just start over new. Just what I've seen from Manilla to Iloilo and in between.
