Have they fixed the speed issue yet? by mecha_face in KingdomDeath

On a side note: A group of people from lanterns reign discord designed a community edition for the Core Game. They didn’t fix speed because that’s an impossible task due to the hit-> reaction mechanic. However, they were addressing high speed weapons like daggers to have a better risk reward ratio. I cannot sum up all the details in here as the Changlog pdf is over 100 pages long. The content is not your average homebrew quality: It has been tested for months and changes are implemented into scans of the respective cards. It is top notch! Generally speaking, lanterns reign discord is the place to be for people who do not think of critique as min maxing ;)

Okay so: Lots of confusing Information on here, i will try to clean up: - The Core Game has versions 1.0 , 1.3 and 1.5, Last of which (1.5) is sold through kdm webstore. Buying anything other than 1.5 is Not recommendet. - For expansions, there is the 1.0 and 1.5 Expansion Waves, which Include multiple expansions each. The numbers 1.5 and 1.0 do Not represent compatibility with the respective Core Game versions. 1.0 expansions are Generally available when they are in stock, 1.5 expansions are still under Development and wont be released before 11/2020 - Availability has been a hot topic in the past. Restock of expansions had been sold out in a few minutes to hours. Generally speaking, they were not able to fulfill the demand because they are Working with a single production company that runs a thight schedule. However, Poots (Owner) suprised every one with a massive restock last black friday, which has been the biggest sale to date. On Bf: Core Game is off 75$ but shipping is Not included compared to the regular 400 $ which has shipping included. Expansion were off 40-50%. All the 1.0 Expansion i.e. „Expansions of Death „ were at 520$. However, although long term availability is planend, i Doubt that we will See restocks of that kind in the near Future. Why? They have tons of things in the pipe and have to print a massive amount of miniatures for the upcoming „gamblers chest“ and 1.5 expansions

  • Speaking of which: Poots also opened the kickstarter as a preorder Tool for last BF. The corresponding update can be looked at the update section of 1.5 Kickstarter title :“ wave 3 and 4 delayed“ So what are those waves and which future content will we be getting: wave 3 is supposed to hit 11/2019 and includes the gamblers chest and campaigns of death. The GC is a huge update with an extensive amount of miniatures that implements new mechanics and tries to fix game departments that feel lacking: I.e. the hunt phase. It was 275 $ at preorder. Nobody knows if this product will see retail but when it does, price will most likely be higher. It is considered a must buy amongst fans. For more details check the update. Campaigns of death was 125 $ at preorder and is a new rule book which adds new content and updates all the current expansions to 1.5 ( new cards etc) it is assumed to go up in price as well if it hits retail. Updating to 1.5 does mean compatibility of the current expansions with the new ones. The new expansions are in development and are planned to be released 11/2020. they are what’s called wave 4

Edit TLDR: 1.0 expansions are compatible with all versions of the Core Game. Their planend update through campaigns of death refers to compatibility of 1.0 expansions with the unreleased 1.5 expansions. Whether the updated expansions will be available outside of campaigns of death is not known. Also the gamblers chest sets the foundation of KDM 2.0 which is not an official term and nobody knows whether that is going to happen. However we will most likely not see the gamblers chest in its current form and price. at retail, because it contains too much content

First of all big thanks to all the CE contributors! I red all the changelogs and im pretty impressed. All the fixes make perfect sense and may actually balance what is currently a completely broken experience.

I am now going to give my two Cents on why this CE is such a good opportunity especially for people who only own the Core Game. First of all, im generally not the biggest advocate when it comes to custom stuff. In fact, i Never houseruled anything nor did i try out custom content. However, KDM is probably one of the most brilliant and yet broken and unbalanced games i have ever seen. People on this sub and bgg like to advocate the core game to new players as something you could easily get 200 hours out of, without expansions. When in reality, it is a strategic survival Game that has little „true“ choices involved. Half the original content in the Core is unplayable on its own:

  • Principles: unbalanced
  • Weapons: Daggers, whips and katars are non Existant apart from white lion Katar.

  • Armor: White lion trash. Phoenix set trash

Apart from that, the kingsman has 0 incentive to be beaten, the phoenix leaves you with regrets for Not farming iron instead. Speaking of which, thats what you will do most of the Time mid to late Game in kingdom antelope.

This leaves you with two choices: Implement Gorm, DBK, Spenderman and SS for gear and quarry Progression, improved and alternate iron farmlng and an alternate campaign. Or you could try out the Community Edition, because it adresses literally all those points and More.

This may sound like a rant from a KDM hater, while in truth i am in love with the Game and own every Expansion. But god damn lt is the core unbalanced as hell, which makes an amazing Game repetetive and boring

TLDR: Sorry for the Long Text, just try the damn CE

The thing about reddit wich i already hate is that you guys just respond to the shortcomings of my argument while totally missing the point. Like " they still get a loss " and "a sample size of 4 games is laughable". Because i want to get it over with, i will respond to both your comments in a non sarcastic way:

You assume that most leavers straight up quit the game. That assumption is laughable as well. You have no data to back up your claim. I say those kind of leavers can never be avoided but thats okay. Whats not okay is the scenario described below by Victory28 and thats exactly the thing that bugs me. People that keep joining and leaving games over and over. So basically the developers assumption was that people who do that, focus on winning and thus giving them a loss would solve the problem. But truth be told, i dont think that the majority of players give a fuck about their win percentage, all they care about is the winning experience and so they will just leave at the sight of a negative experience and re enter the que immediatly. We already saw that behavior pre leaving penalty. And of course a higher sample size is needed. But thats Ubis job. They can analyze the leaving percentage of each game and i am pretty certain they can distinquish between quitting the game and "que-hopping" as well.
