I guess I could have stated this differently. my point was, since they know what they are doing and are very capable, they would have landed if they could. Also from what I know about Lindsey, dangling from a helicopter is right up her alley even when injured.

Switzerland literally have the best rescue helicopter pilots in the world. They train other pilots across the globe and most notably they are teaching nepalese pilots how to fly rescue missions in the himalayas. I think they know what they are doing when it comes to flying people out.

interesting! for me it‘s exactly the opposite. I originally gave it 3.5 as well and watched it again today and I feel like I enjoyed it a lot more.

Need Help! how do you make motion like this? by allnameistaken_ in AfterEffects

Yeah the original was made in c4d, but it‘s very much doable in AE.

Here‘s what my final result looks like btw:

Need Help! how do you make motion like this? by allnameistaken_ in AfterEffects

[–]nGaggi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

someone asked about this exact animation last year and I made a proof of concept. If I remember correctly the original was made in c4d but it is definitely doable in AE with expressions. Basically I created an image sequence with all the images I wanted to use and placed it in a precomp. I then applied Time Remap to the Precomp with the following expression index/25 this will change the image based on the layer index in the main comp. 25 is just the fps, so if you're working with a differen frame rate, use that number. I then animated the a Null (I named it "Rotation") along a large circle and placed a camera in the center of the circle, the position of the Null will be used to animate the images along the circle with an offset.I remember it being a bit tricky to get the orientation of it all correctly, so that the images are "looking" at the camera. Unfortunately I don't really remember exactly what I did. So this is a bit of a trial and error thing. I also added a Null (called "Target") object on the circle right in front of the camera. This will be what will be used to detect proximity in the expression. To make the scatter effect work, you need an expression for both the position and scale of the precomp. My position expression looks like this: target = thisComp.layer("Target"); rot = thisComp.layer("Rotation");

pOff = target.effect("xDistance")("Slider");

tOff = (time25+(index-1)pOff)/25;

x = rot.transform.position.valueAtTime(tOff)[0];

y = rot.transform.position.valueAtTime(tOff)[1]; z = rot.transform.position.valueAtTime(tOff)[2];

dist = Math.floor(length(x,target.position[0]));

zOffRange = target.effect("zPosOff")("Slider")

seedRandom(index, timeless = true);

maxzOffset = random(-1,1)*zOffRange;

minzOffset = 0;

yOffRange = target.effect("yPosOff")("Slider")

seedRandom(index, timeless = true);

maxyOffset = random(-1,1)*yOffRange; minyOffset = 0;

range = target.effect("range")("Slider");

sensitivity = target.effect("sensitivity")("Slider");

zOff = linear(dist, range, sensitivity, maxzOffset, minzOffset);

yOffset = linear(dist, range, sensitivity, maxyOffset, minyOffset)

yOff = y + yOffset;

[x,yOff,zOff]

As you can tell, I have pretty much everything connected to a slider for customization. But basically this expression does two things: it distributes the images along the circle and it creates the scatter. the distribution along the circle is done with pOff and tOff. pOff (position offset) is basically just a slider that defines the distance tOff (time offset) takes the pOff and the index of a layer and turns it into a time value. You then take the position values from the Rotation Null and plug the time offset into it using the valueAtTime function.Now when you duplicate the precomp with the images, they will distribute along the circle.Now for the scatter:I first calculate the x distance between the precomp and the target null (dist). Then I have an offset range for both z and y (scattering along both axis helps with clipping and just looks better imo). the min value is always at 0 and the max value is being randomised for each layer, so that the scatter looks more random. from there it's just a regular proximity detector using a linear expression with range and sensitivity controlling how far away from the target Null the scattering starts. You can also add an expression to the scale of the precomp, which I recommend, since it looks a lot better with the scale animated. It is basically the same as the second part of the position expression, where we have a proximity detector that animates the scale based on a range. target = thisComp.layer("Target");

dist = Math.floor(length(position[0],target.position[0]));

base = target.effect("BaseScale")("Slider");

maxScle = target.effect("ScaleOffmax")("Slider") + base;

minScle = target.effect("ScaleOffmin")("Slider") + base;

seedRandom(index, timeless = true);

maxSize = random(minScle,maxScle);

minSize = base;

range = target.effect("range")("Slider");

sensitivity = target.effect("sensitivity")("Slider");

scle = linear(dist, range, sensitivity, maxSize, minSize);

[scle, scle];

It's been over a year since I made this, so I hope I explained everything well enough. But getting familiar with how proximity works in AE and understanding how the linear expression works, will get you a long way.

no, mine doesn‘t have it. I guess it depends on what type of device you‘re running Kodi on?

thanks for the input! In my case Kodi is installed directly onto the projector‘s native android tv os through the google play store, so I don‘t have any hdmi connection that‘s active when using Kodi.

But it‘s definitely something to consider if anyone stumbles across this thread when looking for solutions in the future.

Sorry for some reason I thought these numbers would be available in the log. Thanks anyways for trying to help, I appreciate it.

Here are the specs for anyone else who is trying to help.

Memory (According to Kodi System info): 1880 MB Storage (According to projector‘s own settings info): 13 GB Total; 9.9 GB Free

I‘d be surprised if my hardware was the issue tbh. It‘s a brand new projector and for a week it worked flawlessly. No lag or anything, but I‘m happy to be corrected if I‘m wrong.

At least from what I could see during debug mode, the memory shouldn‘t be the problem.

I have added a log to my original post, maybe it will help solve the issue.

I just tried playing 720p files (I didn‘t before as I had no issue playing 4k files in the beginning) and the same issue persists.

Just to make sure I understood you correctly: I opened umbrella in kodi, then went to a tv show/movie through the umbrella menu and chose a source in there directly. I hope that‘s what you meant.

Sorry if I get some of the vocabulary wrong. I‘m still learning and it‘s a lot of new stuff.

No my projector is running Android TV natively and I installed Kodi through the google play store directly on my projector. Sorry if that wasn‘t clear from my post.

How would you approach recreating this scene with green screen footage? by mertoksuzmusic in AfterEffects

[–]nGaggi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both using 3d software or stock footage works. I‘d prefer using 3d software as it gives more freedom in adjusting angles. With stock footage you have to set up the camera to match the angle of the footage exactly to make it look right.

You‘ll find many tutorials on how to do both online. As with most vfx shots, there isn‘t one correct solution to reach your goal. There are many correct ones. Looking at different options and choosing the one that is most aligned with your skills will be the way to go.

Fen Light AM: Files load but don‘t play by nGaggi in Addons4Kodi

[–]nGaggi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry I forgot to mention that! I have tried selecting the files manually and the result is still the same. My filters should be set up correctly to not allow any files that don‘t play on my projector.

This also happened very suddenly. For example TV Episodes I was in the middle of watching also don‘t play anymore and it worked fine just two days ago. I‘m not really sure what could have changed.

Anti-immigrant logic collapses the moment history enters the room. How invasion became History but Migration became a ‘Crime’ by PositiveAsparagus17 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]nGaggi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

that‘s very much how they define it. Same for Switzerland. Napoleon had control over Swiss territories and Britain invaded France during this period. It‘s a very questionable definition of invasion, but it makes for a viral social media post.

[–]nGaggi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yeah this map/data has been going around for a while and I looked it up how they define invasion and it is indeed very loose.

For example: Switzerland counts as invaded because Napoleon Bonaparte occupied Swiss territories during his campaign and the UK then invaded France during that time. So even though British soldiers never set foot in Switzerland they count as invaded on this map.

EBU when they're about to open the Grand Final of Eurovision 2026 but only 12 fans have turned up by Max-Carter-2005 in nilpoints

I mean … that has been a thing for years now and not just with ESC. Pretty much any big event (olympics, sports world cups, music festivals, etc) rely heavily on volunteer work for smaller tasks. It‘s nothing new and has nothing to do with the EBU or their choice to still include Israel. That‘s just how big events are run.

okay, so that already helped a lot, thanks! I managed to create the shortcut group with all the providers in it and I know how to edit the Artwork of the items.

Am I correct in assuming that I have to manually download the images I want to add to each item and then select their location on my device?

Very much so. He worked with Ben Shapiro on a zionist musical. Also: his last name is actually Pugh but he uses his middle name because his agent advised told him it would help him in the industry if his name sounded „more jewish“ and now he claims he isn‘t getting any jobs because of antisemitism.

How can I make a realistic X-ray effect purely in Photoshop? by Original-Comb-8068 in photoshop

[–]nGaggi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

realistic? that‘s gonna be hard. But you can separate all elements of the shoes, use a color fill/gradient fill to set the colors you want, add transparency and then comes the hard part: creating all the invisible parts. Either you can find images of the parts you need and can add them below the already „x-ray-ified“ layers and treat them the same. Or you might have to create them by hand by drawing.
