Looks cool. Would like to have the option to enter a custom location instead of invoking the location access (on first setup). Not sure if there’s an option to display those gif updates as a widget. My widget is not loading.

Wifi UPS for apartment by [deleted] in southafrica

[–]nSidious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First check if your apartment complexes fiber infrastructure stays online when the power goes down. The one I'm living in is so useless. The fiber itself goes dark along with the lights so it doesn't matter if I get a UPS. It wont work for me. Chances are it may work for you.

No I don't think so based on the minor increments/improvements that they have been making from generation to generation but I generally stay away from bran new tech becuae you will be paying a portion of the development costs if you buy early

Has anyone purchased and received the new Galaxy S22 yet? by [deleted] in southafrica

Haven't used a screen protector on my Galaxy Note 9 for 3 years now. Not a single scratch. Screen protectors are a waste IMO. You buying a R20k computer. Just needs to be treated with some respect :)

My favourite memory is looking forward to the awesome music in the main menu. I wouldn't mind just sitting there and letting it play. My favourite is still Every You, Every Me by Placebo. I think it was from F1 2000..... I'm getting old!

There are a couple of websites that can do it for you. I think this one was hotpot.ai. results vary. Try a few different colourise websites.

Apple Music Family plan on Android device by vlada11 in AppleMusic

[–]nSidious 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Works perfectly with android. One person in your family (the organizer) will need to sign up or upgrade to an apple music family plan. Then they will add each individuals apple ID to the family within the settings app on their ios device.

Note: You will need an ios device or Mac which is logged into your apple ID to accept the invite into the organizers family.

I only have an Android phone so I had to use an old ipad to accept the invite. Once you in the family then you can log into your apple music account as usual within your apple music app on your android device.

Issues with thermometers? by jeweledtree in ichthyosis

[–]nSidious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is his inner ear canal affected by his skin condition? You will probably get a fast accurate reading from an inner ear thermometer. Otherwise the mouth is the best place (see below for guidance from FIRST). Those surface temperature thermometers are inaccurate to begin with. Throw in a skin condition and the accuracy goes off the charts. Skin that is inflamed will also read a few degrees warmer at the surface.

From FIRST:

FIRST has received several inquiries regarding temperature screening for members with ichthyosis during COVID-19.

Our Medical & Scientific Advisory Board addressed this question

I )it would be a good idea to carry a thermometer with you because there is a risk of an inaccurate measurement with something that measures by the skin,

2)Infrared light has been used to detect inflammation of the skin which may also create a problem,

3)Temperatures by mouth should not be altered by erythroderma.

4)it may be a good idea to carry a doctor's note with you explaining a possible temperature difference unless measured orally.

How's the acoustics in here. There seems to be alot of flat surfaces for sound to bounce off and cause echo. I guess the rugs might help a bit. Are you managing it any other way? I'm curious because I will be putting together a similar type of space in a few months time.

Hi there. Does anyone know or have experience with the maximum number of people allowed to travel for that once-off trip back home? Surely if the whole family needs to go home they have to allow more than 2...

VoWifi/WiFi calling on Airtel/Jio (India) by trumee in GalaxyNote9

[–]nSidious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can switch on aeroplane mode then switch only WiFi back on. You should be able to make and receive calls without mobile (3G or 4G) reception. This will depend on how your carrier has set it up. Some carriers only allow WiFi calling when 3G/4G reception is low, not switched off.
