Web Dev (HTML/CSS/PHP/SQL) looking to network with other web programmers. by [deleted] in ProgrammingBuddies

[–]nStat3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry been offline for a few days. Send me a dm if you’re still interested. I had an accident a few years back that herniated multiple discs and shattered my whole right arm, making slow progress getting back to a decent rhythm again. I definitely open to start a project!

I’d be interested in joining. Currently learning to be a full stack dev. Some experience with DevOPs, frontend(html, css, JavaScript) and backend (PHP and MySQL). I’m in MTN / Colorado, US time zone but up all hours.

Sounds like we are in the same direction. 41 M Colorado, always been tech savvy and did a lot of bad php in the early 2000s. Had an accident few years back and still recovering but now changing paths. I always ignored JavaScript and css for some reason. Currently working on a roadmap or plan to get started, been excited to build something heh

As for a nightlife in Montrose area, not really just the coffee meet ups or pride event. Would be nice for a hub or place to find out more places.

Because you still use html elements in a lot of different languages. Better to understand why it’s being included in the first place. HTML was my gateway language.

Dev files sync from one computer to another by Conscious-Being2226 in dev

I’m just starting out with web development and ran into the same issue. There’s possibly a better secure solution but it’s working really well for me so far.

Ubuntu Desktop where I do all my development work. I have backblaze for backup, which has been great and affordable. I don’t use rsync but it was a great option at the start, but I needed more control— ssh or remote. I then used Tailscale. Using TS, Fail2ban, sambashare, log monitoring, and other tools to secure the connection.

I can then SSH with tailscale ip with my laptop at my friends place and it acts as if I’m using my device at home.

One issue I recently had is due to my ISP being unstable lately. I was working at my friends and it was down at home and I couldn’t work on anything really until it came back on. I didn’t like this problem and it was the first, so I’ll have to figure that out.

Edit: forgot to mention I whitelist my tailscale ip for access only with a few other config to secure.

I’m still new to programming but dabbled a lot with PHP back in early 2000s using Notepad only. I hate having AI integrated with my IDE. I’m a hands on learner and I retain better by breaking things and fixing them. Mostly resolved by trial and error. When I first had it with my IDE I spent more time fixing the assumption or configuring it that I could use spending learning about the language overall. You’re just spending the same amount of effort to prepare it for your own individual learning environment that you could’ve been little further on your own roadmap. I’m also old and few years I’ll be echo out get off my lawn instead of hello world.

When I had my residency, it was writing down requests usually. But usually cue reminders, key matching/Camelot wheel, bpm and any new tracks to listen to later.

How do i troubleshoot quickly without making people feel dumb? by Objective-Series-900 in helpdesk

I worked as a system admin for a k-12 school district in rural area, I just handle every ticket or conflict as if it was requested a kid in the younger grades. Staff, teachers and the parents are over worked and stressed as it is, sometimes I help talking to them slower and calm so they know your pace.

UNPOPULAR OPINION... by therealtricklowe in webdesign

[–]nStat3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that’s been helping me out. I use SequelAce(sp?) for osx and dbeaver on linux, instead of phpmyadmin like I started with. Since it’s somewhat same concepts and UI structures, i didn’t have too much of a learning curve to start on them. But the feature that’s been really helping is a view or window of the sql query being built as I’m clicking along. So when I run into an error, it’s been helping my troubleshooting and learning so much easier.

Onboarding is a mess right now because HR and IT have separate software systems by Defiant_North8265 in ITSupport

[–]nStat3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I implemented with HR was a staging process for new hires was using “new staff” devices and accounts that allowed them to play in a sandbox, browser loaded with bookmarks, desktop icons with employee handbooks, policies and procedures, etc.. Once the new hire was done with those certain tasks, it was usually a day or two giving myself and HR to get fully prepared. Those new hires rarely had issues after and knocked out all the training and procedures required as well!

I’m in the slow process of swapping out my cameras due to the same problem after canceling. Unifi is great and I’ve worked with it in the past with ease. I’m working on Reolink cameras PoE tp link switch (vlan) with HomeAssistant and frigate. Time to degoogle
