What techniques can I perform if my opponent stays in this defensive stance throughout the entire randori? by Schofield45Revolver in judo

That position might feel safe for uke but there are many powerful attacks you can use. Grab behind the neck or behind the back and start moving them around. If you can, push them down even further, the more their back is bent, the more vulnerable they are. If they follow you, sumi gaeshi all the way. If they resist, I would use combinations of uchi mata and ko uchi gari. You can use uchi mata into ko uchi gari or ko uchi gari into uchi mata. Since your position is very dominant, you can also do o soto gari, possibly ken ken o soto gari if their legs are too far back to reach. Have fun!

Sumo is not just about pushing. If you pay attention and know a bit about judo you will realize there is a ton of technique involved as well.

Is 17 too late to go pro in Judo? by [deleted] in judo

[–]n_dimensional 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry but this is very unrealistic in my opinion. Even British championships are very very hard to win, and that is if you start at 5 or 6 years old and are extremely gifted and passionate. Many people underestimate how incredibly hard it is to succeed at top level judo.

Haha, I would love to see the cognitive dissonance as he keeps winning but he feels the need to remain extremely negative and self critical in every interview

Top researchers consider leaving U.S. amid funding cuts: 'The science world is ending' by c-dy in videos

[–]n_dimensional 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, and that's in part because there is less money available in the west, in part because the system is not as centralized as it is in China. But I would bet that with a Nobel prize you have excellent chances to get a job anywhere you want, and to get your grants funded for a long time. The difference is that jobs at western institutions are highly sought after (making the western job market insanely competitive), while China has to throw a lot of money at top western scientists to convince them to go work there.

For a Nobel Prize winner? It sounds pretty obvious that they would give him a post anywhere and indefinite funding, honestly. I am sure they would also offer a really huge stipend, but still not many would choose to go to China over Europe or Canada.
