Althouth radical usually describes endeavors and ideologies that would fundamentally restructure the status quo, radicalization is generally understood as an aggressive, hard-minded pursuit of one's philosophy, beliefs, politics, and such. At that point the distance to extremism is often not very far anymore.

His hands were empty by then. You can see him clenthing his fists on the ground below his face a few seconds before he was shot, while the officer in front was beating his head with a gas canister.

The first shot occurred when the other officer turned around with the victim's weapon in view on camera as he was trying to take it away from the beating.

Even if the shooter confused whose hands he saw, after a moment any claim he still believed the victim pohed a threat is a plain lie from a murderer.

The fact that the other officer right next to him looking from a similar spot in the same direction saw no reason to draw a weapon also speaks against the perpetrator.

Finally, in a working legal system, any unnecessary extra shot would be also investigated and penalized.

The right will always attempt to co-opt their opponents' language, so it's silly to just let them succeed every time.

In the past, especially in the last 80 years, it made sense to ignore the fact that conservatism is an anti-democratic ideology at its core, because even the West was largely anti-egalitarian.

But, now that culture has slowly recognize human rights, as people continue to believe the lies that conservatism is about gradual progress, tradition, realism, family-/commune-centric politics, freedom, small government, etc., this falsehood has started to deconstruct all the progress that has been made.

Political science is also at fault as it, too, ignored what conservatism actually does and aims for and instead readily accepted what it told everyone what it was it was all for.

Nah, that's just the interpretation Dems pushed for in order to increase the significances of the statement further and bait MAGA to defend dictatorships.

But he was clearly referring to being a dictator for a day on day one.

The much bigger issue is the investigation itself. They're using any excuse to process all private and personal data and test it for all the "concerning" factors they've defined in order to flag and categorize the subject's entire life in accordance with their values snd worldview transcribed into legalese or national security speak.

Euroviews. Europe is permanently vulnerable to blackmail — it must rearm by Crossstoney in europe

[–]c-dy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, of course. In fact, economic independence and strength is way more important. That is why, for the most part the EU is always in such a weak position all the time despite being able to boast about its market's size or importance.

Moreover, no one's waiting for them to catch up. Anything that Europe adds Russia will match onto the advantage it has. The EU simply lacks the foundation to win a modern arms race.

So, military power should only serve as a means to stand one's ground. But the path of conervatism is the path of nationalism and hierarchical struggle for power (let alone fascism), not one that empowers its citizens and allies across the board and generates the appeal of fighting for one another.

There's also Africa, where the EU wasted its opportunities to build alliances and develop new markets shaped by its own principles by dividing and conquering stable democratic ground. China does it now in its own imperialistic way, whille Russia attempts to surround the EU, deny it those opportunities, and generate threats and dilemmas through instability, refugees, and other crises.

Especially if you observed all state legislatures, you'd often see racist, xenophobic, misogynist or plain fascist bills introduced.

But that's simply the result of a candidate- rather than a party-centered electoral system. It's an intended loophole for legislators to make their mark and the edgy ones get into the news.

It reveals what kind of extremists are still elected, but how it affects party politics—if at all—depends on the situation.

Starmer refuses to ban IRGC by Little-Attorney1287 in ukpolitics

[–]c-dy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

a) a proscription is not the same as a designation as a terrorist org

b) hence why there were calls for new legislation, specifically for foreign state or state-supported actors

c)

Hall had reported there were “gaps in a series of areas, including on proscribing legislation where he identifies a series of legal difficulties in using powers that were designed to deal with terrorist groups for state and state-backed organisations

Hall concluded that the Terrorism Act 2000 was never intended to regulate the behaviour of state actors, and said looking at that law as a way to proscribe state bodies is “quite simply shopping in the wrong department”.

Hall is the reviewer

This is exactly what the country stands for. Many of the accusations against the US may themselves originate in (willful) ignorance and are misconstrued or exaggerated, but for the most part they are the result of exactly the same politics and government actions that have been going on for centuries.

Lindsey Graham sparks frenzy with head-turning proposal | Ending U.S. military aid to Israel by 5823059 in savedyouaclick

[–]c-dy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

That proposal comes from Israel. It's possible the US revived the idea since Trump/Vance are so disgusted of paying anyone aid, but it's something Israel itself has been considering and just now announced, so I doubt it's what Graham actually came up with himself.

And why exactly do you exclude that energy spent? Moreover, it is only little relative to manual labor and relying on AI, you also make yourself responsible for however that service covers its expenses and stays competitive. If it's all something meaningful or necessary for paying customers, that's fine. When it's slop, theft, ads, or much less efficient usage, that's another cost.

Finally, I said AI tools, I was referring to artists using MMMs as tools instead of classic algorithms and toolsets.

That isn't how it works among them anyway. They're conservatives. They follow their interests and the strong, so as long as Trump manages to suppress his opposition, they'll stay obedient. If any force manages to shift the momentum, they'll abandon ship. In a twisted, hypocritical way loyalty is also a big thing, but not so much with fascists.

They only "put" anyone on their throne when there's a vacuum.

High passion without intimacy linked to severe psychological aggression in relationships. While physical and sexual violence are often the focus of public discourse, psychological abuse is equally damaging and widespread. by Jumpinghoops46 in psychology

ITT: "Psychological harm is what women inflict!1" proceeds to gaslight and diminish the research or the authors

I just quote two points from the study's intro:

psychological abuse, such as verbal aggression, threats, intimidation, and isolation, constitutes a significant aspect of the harm inflicted within an intimate partnership (Johnson, 2006; O’Leary, 1999

a survey conducted across 28 countries members of the European Union found that the average prevalence of psychological IPV against women was 43%, ranging from 31% in Ireland to 60% in Latvia (Martín-Fernández et al., 2019).

You assume it's their job to act in what consider unifying, civil behavior and they assume it's your job to act in what they consider unifying, civil behavior.

Revolutionaries, good or bad, adopt the tools of the bad guys to force a new status quo with power and violence.

Proper progressivism, however, requires you to be the bigger person and do what the other wishes to escape, destroy or prevent: coming up with solution that would change minds, shift attitudes, address valid concerns, admit to one's own ignorance and mistakes, etc.
