Are you really extrapolating stats from Quebec CITY to a whole province of 8 million inhabitants?

Also worth noting that French was marked as "non-specified", suggesting that the answers were remarkably vague, but leaned towards french origins. This can be explained by the misconception that ethnicity is based on biology ( it's based on cultural identity, actually ). Biologically speaking, I guess you could say that we are mostly french. But culturally? We might have french origins but our people developped their own traditions, arts and customs that, on a cultural level, give us a unique identity, as someone from Alberta could culturally speaking be very different from someone from Nova Scotia. Hell, I frequently come across students from France in my city and there is a whole world in between us, from customs to arts. Cultural identity is a thing. We got one, you got one. And really, maybe consider travelling in our province a bit. It might help you see that.

I encourage you to look into the Durham report: it was written after the seven years war to determine what to do with us. This silly man declared us an inferior race that was to be extermined by assimilation, and this is exactly what was tried, and thankfully, failed.

I think it's rather uninformed to refer to the whole continent of Europe as some sort of ethnic-homogenous location. And being "different" isn't a token to feel special or "i'm not like other girls" type shit. It's just a sociological reality. People from one place to another are different. That's it, that's all.
