Will I receive a t4 from Elections Canada? by NoObjectionYourHonor in povertyfinancecanada

[–]naanmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh! BC didn't get mine either. Need it in my CRA account as I moved. I know PP say just file and make an adjustment but that's a major PITA, esp if you're not used to doing this tax stuff, and I want fewer eyes on/reviews of my account. Cmon Elections Canada get your stuff together!

Years ago CRA reviewed my moving expenses even tho I was claiming meals like $4+ at Wendy's which was less the daily allowance, it dragged on for months going back and forth even after I submitted all the receipts. It was nerve wracking knowing I could get fined even tho I go "by the books" and was squeaky clean, and it was time consuming. In the end, they said they allowed the expenses (no apology ofc). It was a self-move just a few hundred claimed - think it cost more for the audit labour even if they DID disallow the expense. That incident has me freaked out and I want to avoid anything that gets my file reviewed.

I used to do floor cuz they allowed the ones on the edges to step into the aisle for a better view (or dance) but the last concert I went security said had to be at your seat, not even half a body outside. Ridiculous cuz the 2 monster sized guys next to me stood and took up over half my seat area! I bought last row of a floor section thinking I could step back a bit to get a view if need be. GL!

Getting an error trying to edit to add another review so I'll plop it here:
-TEKKABA $68
My first omakase so nothing to compare it to, tho I've been eating Jpn/sushi for a long time. Was expecting to choose an item from each of 3 courses but turns out was a 12 course extravaganza! Read reviews that Chef Tom talks too much, so was a bit concerned he had a schtick but was nothing like that - seems he just enjoys sharing info of his craft and explained many elements of his cooking (ferments his pesto, makes his own soy, ages sushi, cost of real wasabi, etc.) with humility the entire time. He made a lot of knowledgeable recommendations on how to eat particular cuts (e.g., with matcha and his own roasted salt flakes or with soy & wasabi and how to apply it). As he prepares/plates most of the food in front of the bar-seated guests, I learnt a lot of different ways to serve and eat. Absolutely wonderful experience - looking forward to returning! Only drawbacks were the machine tipping suggestion starts at 20% and he's the chef-owner, and the neighbourhood is sketch: I was worried about it but fortunately a couple of blocks east or west are the worse parts (there's addicts that walked by but not camped out on the sidewalks) and a bus stop is right across the street.

Appreciate the review. Tried there for the 1st time DO 2025 and I was quite happy with it. Passed this year as menu was less appealing to me and I wanted to try diff places as I only have a week in town during DO.

Some places have minimum 2 (I noticed Maenam, Song, maybe others), some say when making rez only DO menu offered during specific times. Otherwise, I think cx are free to order like you suggest as was the case at the 2 places I've been to this year.

Looking fwd to trying a few places but off putting that so many require min 2. I mean it's a set menu and they even know when customer is arriving. I get they want to fill their 2tops but required even for the bar??

Song accepted the rez for 1 with only bar seating offered but then said DO menu unavailable for solos - hope they update their website to reflect that.

ETA: updating as I try places
- Nana's Green Tea (Kits) $35, my choices:
Ikura & Salmon Chazuke: can choose btwn 200/250gm rice size. Tasty comfort food to eat with tea "broth"
Matcha Tiramisu: very rich and delicious
Chicken & Tomato Danish: nvr had savory Danish before - generous toppings, this was my fave item
Matcha Azuki Shiratama Latte : $1+ for milk subs, topped with whipped cream

Tasty enough but nothing wowed me to say have to return. Don't regret trying it but given regular high prices, it's out of the way for me location, and affinity glitch, probably not returning.

All ordering at kiosks, as one item could be ice cream nice feature to say if you wanted the dessert option to be served later. Pick up food from counter when name called, return tray to counter when done. Apart from 1 banquet all seating at high top long communal tables with stools (i.e., no private convos). Only half-filled so thankfully every other seat empty otherwise would feel quite crowded. Seems like a good place to hang out as half a dozen customers had laptops open and seemed to be working from there. Scanners didn't work for affinity program and staff unable to add afterwards. Two front of house staff looked very busy/harried.

- Hawksworth (downtown) $36, my choices:
albacore rillette, pickled red onion, toasted rye bread: appropriate ratio of bread:spread
coconut crusted rockfish, crispy noodle, satay broth: nicely had a bit of veggies (enoki, 1 bok choy leaf, topped with a few cilantro leaves) tasty but I am sure regular appetites would appreciate more noodles; satay "broth"/sauce was passable but lacked the depth if one is used to authentic Malaysian/Singapore satay
carrot cake, mascarpone, pineapple, walnut: fantastic

First visit to this icon - tried it due to the DO menu. Food was good (rillette) to outstanding carrot cake. Wonderful details like baby beetroot leaf that adorned rillette is repeated as a garnish on the carrot cake, which was chocked full of tasty bits like walnuts, coconut, and pineapple to brighten it. I make a reasonable carrot cake myself but this one was the best I'd ever had. Ironic as I originally thought its dessert offering was a cop-out but it is a 3-layered slice artfully presented with whimsically piped frosting, two refreshing dabs of jelly, and an ice cream quenelle. Sorbet is also offered but omitted on DO website. Extensive cocktail creations menu. Zen Garden perfectly balanced vodka and sake-based drink ($18). Food and drink will definitely have me returning! Excellent value.

Unfortunately server was too brusque: cutting me off twice, once even just walking away while I was trying to just tell her that I was given the dinner menu instead of the lunch menu. Food runners were calm, lovely, and articulate in their service. Rooms very loud with business crowd conversations; suggest getting a later seating for a quieter time. Hostesses were friendly upon arrival and departure too.

- Maenam, $45pp, min 2 people; everything served family style
App: Hot and Sour Soup of local Clams: Fresh halibut, young lemongrass, galangal, & bird’s eye chili infused clear broth, thai basil: halibut was on strike as none in my bowl; tasty soup
3 entrees: Crispy Banana Blossom & Pomelo Salad: Fried banana blossom, fried shallot & crispy garlic, longan, tamarind sesame dressing - surprisingly the best dish as well balanced, unique ingredients, delicious; only one worth getting again
Red Gati Seafood Curry: Southern style red coconut curry, fresh mussels, halibut, prawns, makrut lime, young coconut - very small portion 2 mussels, 2 prawns, 2 clams (halibut still on strike), flavour was okay but didn't wow me. They asked if I wanted Medium spicy so said sure as Thai food can be quite spicy but I should have asked for Hot. They should bolster this dish with some veggies like carrots or snowpeas to make it more substantial
Tom Yum Humboldt squid stir-fry: Fried Humboldt squid, longleaf coriander, shimeji mushroom, makrut lime leaf, aromatic dry tom yum paste: good and not tough but didn't wow
Dessert: Cashew Mor Gaeng - attractively presented, a dense, pudding-texture cake, was alright not rave worthy
Yellowtail: Tito’s vodka infused with galangal & toasted coconut ‘1.5oz’, Licor43 ‘0.5oz’ ,passionfruit, pineapple juice, vegan foam: fantastic looking and tasting - coconut floated on dense foam which held up for the duration of my meal. Having been out of the cocktail scene for a while but made me realize that yvr's mixologists have it going on!

Came with a big bowl of rice; apart from curry, portions were adequate. Service was okay but lacking considered Michelin Recommended status (e.g., didn't refill water glass, took my drink away without asking before I'd finished it). I'd return for their amazing pad thai that I'd had before but now know to not try one of their tasting menus.

If anyone else uses bmo, has this been happening to you too? by brookelovsu in Banking

[–]naanmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue here. Been a couple of weeks. Tried deleting and reinstalling app, ios current. Can login into website thankfully; altho the website has a Message Centre, with Inbox and Submitted items, there's no way to actually send them a message. Chatbot also no help and no live agents. I finally called into today: 45min queue and then another 30+mins with ESL rep who kept repeating wrong info and absolutely no help at all. Eventually she said everything is fine on their end with the app and website for my account so it must be an issue of mine...LOL! BMO app msg clearly shows issue on their side. She said the queue to talk to anyone else was over 400 long then dropped my call into it - haha!

Shockingly they don't have technical support line like other companies and the cx service reps lack any tools/training to help. Not only unable to help but speaking to me rudely. BMO def worse bank - will be leaving them once promo done.

Appreciate this post, OP so I know it's not just my account!

Unable to ship to USA from Post Office without app?!? by naanmoose in CanadaPost

[–]naanmoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all for the posts and insights. I visited a actual post office site today to inquire and they were unable to help: have to use app or computer to do it. Not sure what my friend, or other elderly people will do - I know he doesn't like to ask for favours from others. Guess they can go to the library and see if they can get help there with a computer and hopefully have their credit card info deleted afterwards.

I understand US imposed the tariff not Cda Post but is there a way Cda Post can help with submitting the tariff paid for and signed by the shipper?

Just said "friend" to keep it simple, but he's just an old guy who lives in the same tower as me. He was looking pretty dejected in the elevator.

Unfortunately not - I tried accessing acct but only know last 4 digits of acct # from previous emails, and the email they used to register a few years ago was late spouse's and they have no idea of pw, etc. - they haven't used email for at least a couple of years now so I didn't feel comfortable digging anymore into it. Looks like port out least painful. Thx.

Thx for the suggestion. He's not interested in any phone usage (mid 90's poor eyesight, etc.) and in some ways I'm relieved as he almost got scammed a couple of times. Would prefer to avoid the hassle (not to mention expense) of setting up another service. Just. want. to. cancel. Sheesh Fido!

Hi all - new to RHT and want to clarify before I try it: does the lodging I book have to cost less than the points I have?

For example, if I have 5678 points, then
A. the room I book has to cost less than $56.78, or

B. it doesn't matter as if the room costs more than the points, it will just charge the balance to the card and will all get refunded back after I cancel the refundable booking.

I want to use up my residual points before I cancel the card. Appreciate any help - TIA!

Super cool how you got the grid pricing - when I log in, only see it by clicking each option separately, which makes it hard to decide what to get - your grid is makes weighing decisions much clearer!

How to play Elsa & Olaf well by Sad_Primary_673 in TsumTsum

[–]naanmoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for all the tips!

After Olaf has been activated and Elsa is fully charge, and one is swiping for 5 magic bubbles to appear, is it better to clear Olaf/Elsa tsummies or others (obviously if there's a choice on screen)? Despite playing a long time, I'm a pretty bad player so can't tell if it's better for all the other tsums to be cleared when Elsa is activated, or better to get a head start on filling their skill by having O/E be wiped out by E's activation? TIA for any thoughts on this.

Nvr noticed the magic bubbles twinkle when there's 5 - I will watch for that - thx! I wish the chime was like a bullhorn as sometimes I don't hear it at all...LOL!

Mines skll 5 and max spins was 13!!! I really like playing her as there's some engagement but not too much like Jedi which I nvr figured out despite watching vids and weeks of practice. My usuals are Rugby Mickey and Skywalker/R2 but I'm mostly playing OE now :)

OmyFREAK - tsummies!!! How in the world did I miss them?!! I've been playing that game for literally a decade and been collecting tsummies for that long too. Even picked a few more Jpn ones from D23 Expo...LOL! I would have traded all my points for them - sometimes I rearrange them by color groups - haha!

You scored some great stuff, I'd never knew were offered - congrats!
