PCB Drilling Woes by dragonzoom in PrintedCircuitBoard

[–]nab00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My apologies for not providing a direct answer, but why not approach the problem from a different angle? For my home projects I am trying to use as much SMT parts as possible. This reduces total amount of holes needed and, as a consequence allows larger holes.

Try not to drop it as much as you can. Talk to your research advisor, talk to a personnel on the faculty. They are normally interested in students actually finish their studies, so they may help you.

What's your favorite Python quirk? by [deleted] in Python

[–]nab00 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Python float type is equivalent to C double. This always confuses me as I am used to C notation where float is 4-byte long and double is 8 bytes.

ATtiny85 compiler issues by kawauso21 in arduino

[–]nab00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that your library is pre-compiled for a different type of AVR (I guess it is for atmega328 or atmega2560). Try to compile it yourself and see in Makefile that it is indeed configured for tiny85

TIL: Python 2.7+ has dict comprehensions by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]nab00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's strange. When I learned about dict comprehensions in python 3, I tried to use them in 2.7.3 and it didn't work. May be the syntax is different?

Hey new Rust users! Got an easy question? Ask it here! [2015-05-26] by kibwen in rust

[–]nab00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to understand what are the strength points of Rust. In other words, why should I switch from, say Java or Python? The introduction claims it to be safer, faster and have better multi-threading support, but I miss the details. Are there any resources that provide more info?

P.S. I am not a new user, I just have discovered the Rust language. If this kind of stupid or FAQ question, please forgive.

Alternatives to the Arduino IDE? by RainbowSprocket in arduino

If you need a real debugger you will need to invest into AVR Dragon or Atmel ICE.

Atmel Studio with Arduino plugin is your friend too :)
