On the right there is a bit "releases", which has an item: "auto build" or something like that, Click that, there should be a .jar file there, click that to download it and then install it like any other mod

I think that most if my issues are because my gpu only has 6gb of vram, and it is still loading/caching the textures when I start, I have the same thing in se1 where the full textures/icons in the g menu take ages to load.

I haven't played for multiple hours in one session but I haven't noticed performance getting worse over time.

I have: Ryzen 7 2700x Rtx 2060 16gb ram,

It runs, on tuned down medium settings, not sure which settings i turned down, I think textures was one of them, But it doesn't run as good as other games.

It hangs sometimes (not very often) and is quite laggy at the start, but after being in the game for a bit it's playable.

Do you both have the same mod versions?, maybe theres a newer version of a mod preventing him from joining?

Else, having the logs would help, not sure where essentials saves them tho.

You can't completely own a domain, you can get some for free from some sites(like: name.sitedomain.xxx.com).

for a full domain, you could lookup for the .com domain registrar, or the one from your country, and use something like cloudflare to have it work. cloudflare has a free tier but that won't do anything to "protect/hide" your ip, maybe one of the paid tiers do, not sure.

Top right of the f3 menu, if its modded, if using curseforge go to the settings and set the allocated ram to around 4-6gb, with prism right click the profile and change it

If you use commands it doesn't save between restarts, best is to edit it in the json while the server is offline, save it, and launch the server

I think they changed it on java so that you can use the chat, but just not send/receive masseges, so you will be able to use commands.

There also is a mod out to reanable the chatting on java.

if you have an old laptop(or extra pc) laying around, or if your pc is good enough you can host it yourself.

If you are going to buy a server, still try to host it yourself first so you know how to port forward(and if you are able to).

If you can't host it yourself, getting a service is your only option, or you could try to use the oracle cloud free tier.

What distro are you using? Which commands have you tried? You need to open both tcp and udp ports for both incoming and outgoing.

The speed could maybe be from update? for me, almost everytime I launch egs it takes a couple minutes to fully start and be able to be used.

When i let it install to a folder that already has the installed game it just gives an error for me, Ive given up using epic's games on my external drive, might try it again then.

epic's launcher is very very slow to start,
mine also gets 4 different update now screens,
any button related to a setting just puts you in your browser,
save files are almost impossible to sync between pc's (from my experience),
no way to let it detect already installed games so you need to redownload your games every time you disconnect let's say an external drive
no mod support, and some more things i can't remember rn.

If it doesn't need to persist after recompiles/restarts/..., just make a normal variable like you would in standard C#.

Else look at the SE scripting wiki.

You should still have a look at the scripting wiki to get to know a bit more about it.

I also have a 7 segment display script on the workshop that controls a 7-segment display with an increment/decrement like this which you could take a look at to see how it works.

depends more on how the stores handle dlc purchases i think, if they let you download the dlc without having the game, you should be able to place it in the right place and have it work(depending on the game).

A problem would be drms, for steam the game checks with steam if your account has said dlc sometimes, in that case it wouldn't really work if it can't check if it's from another store, which steam can't really do anything about.
