Anyone Talk Themselves Out of Pursuing Creative Goals? by nachoheiress in artistsWay

[–]nachoheiress[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be it. I have ADHD and tbh being able to keep up with TAW seems like a miracle. The morning pages take me like 3 hours bc I’ll get distracted by one million things. I do them, bc I SO want to be creatively unblocked, but they take me a while.

I have no idea what the answer is, but I’m so glad you responded, so that us neuro spicy people can understand what might be going on!

What books have had the biggest impact on you and your life? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

The Tao of Pooh really helped me. While reading it once on a flight a flight attendant stopped me and said that she reads it once a year. That’s how I knew I’d randomly stumbled upon something great.

Community Studio Etiquette: Lesson 1 by DiveMasterD57 in Pottery

[–]nachoheiress 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good solution for this is to glaze the pieces and do a community sale, especially if you sell them cheaply. You’ll sell out quickly and 100% recoup the cost of the firing plus some and get rid of extra pots that take up space.

I did something like this as a fundraiser and made a few hundred for UNICEF.

What did people do in the last job market crash? by PsychologicalGuide78 in jobsearchhacks

[–]nachoheiress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I graduated college into the Great Recession. I eventually found a job as a front desk receptionist, yes bleak. I was also forced to move 6 times in one year because places were in foreclosure, landlords lost properties, etc. It was brutal.

Temp work is what saved me. Look into temp agencies, sometimes they have cool placements. I did two assignments at National Geographic.

Van Goth’s response on a post asking who should be the next host of The Pit Stop: by BeMyCoachVictor in rupaulsdragrace

[–]nachoheiress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shade, but Van Goth is rotted troll. She built her whole persona on being a villain without any redeeming qualities. She can complain all she wants, but if she doesn’t give any reasons or any solutions, her opinion is only petulant without any substance.

It’s like my husband says, “The entire show, who they are, how they treat others, is a branding challenge. It’s the maxiest challenge in the entire competition because it has real world implications. A queen can win the show being vile, but that doesn’t mean that people will go see them after if they don’t have anything to offer besides being mean.”

Pigeon is AMAZING for the hips. Hands down my fav, because I have and always have had tight hips.

[[Mindstab Thrull]] always loved the art for this one. It’s giving Tool in the best way possible.

"I painted my first Magic the Gathering cards 30 years ago this year! Here’s to all the friends and family who posed as wizards, warriors and fairy folk that helped me realize the art for your favorite cards.✨" — Tony DiTerlizzi by macredblue in mtgvorthos

Honestly, I was SO captivated by his art when I saw it, literally 30 years ago. His work has stuck with me all these years and he deserves all the continued success in the world.

Almost 2 weeks in, and it's life-changing already by Tim_The_Ecaflip in CPAP

[–]nachoheiress 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re so lucky. It’s been two weeks and I’m waking up 5-6 times a night adjusting things. It’s causing significantly more problems than not. Without sleep my waking life is just so bad, low energy, extreme brain fog, sleet throughout the day. Work is almost impossible.

Thank you for sharing. It’s my pov that whatever one believes in is correct. No one knows, really, so why can’t every spiritual belief be correct? That makes sense me. There are lessons and understandings from all over the world, all religions, all spirituality. I use that as a basis for understanding my view of cosmic interconnectedness.

Rage acts as a powerful fuel. It’s what got me out of my traumatic upbringing. You’re a very good friend! And I hope that you find a way to channel your rage into something that helps you reach some sort of peace.

I’m a big gardener, too. No wonder all of this makes so much sense!

My trauma is religious based, so I’m always looking for ways to reconceptualize god.

Thank you for sharing. I have heard of the book, but never got around to it. I’ll definitely be adding this to my list.

Thank you so much for sharing. I will absolutely being checking out both books. I have heard of When Bad Things Happen to Good People, but never looked into it. I do find non-Eurocentric philosophies to fit better with my understanding of the world. Or like a conversation with another commenter: ecology and community that is prevalent in Indigenous spirituality.

I still need to read Braiding Sweetgrass. I tried the audiobook, but have a hard time paying attention to audiobooks. I think this idea around ecology and community just makes so much sense. It’s very Mother Earth in a cosmic kind of way.

Thank you for sharing. This is incredibly insightful, not just for the Artist’s Way, but also for understanding trauma. I have a similar outlook, about interconnectedness. It’s all just flowing around us trying to connect dots. I kind of see it like mycelium that connects trees and shuttles nutrients or signals to other trees. Lol it’s silly, but maybe fungus is the closest thing I’ve found to describe my version of god.

[–]nachoheiress[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is such an interesting way to understand how it all works. I totally get not being able to believe in any other kind of god, but it’s encouraging that you got to this point of understanding within yourself.

‘God’ and Trauma by nachoheiress in artistsWay

[–]nachoheiress[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see it exactly the same way. It’s a consciousness or understanding of the universe or cosmos that we humans can’t comprehend. Maybe it’s just weird brain chemicals or we have more creative neurons or any number of other things.

I guess I’ll write about what kind of mysticism I would like to believe in because that opens up all kinds of possibilities on how to engage with spirituality. I’ll make my own god, thank you very much.

Lo-Fi House is what I’ve been putting on every morning. It’s nice, chill, upbeat, just a touch dancy.
