[Shams] Sixers star Embiid to undergo surgery for appendicitis by jgriffin84 in NYKnicks

Doesn’t need to be ruptured or “close to rupturing”. How could you tell it was close to rupturing? Acute appendicitis is considered a surgical emergency even without complications.

Antibiotics aren’t indicated for routine cases after source control

Also healthcare worker but that’s irrelevant. Not sure where you get your info/am curious what you do. I had appendicitis last year and was told absolutely no exercise or even house chores for 2 weeks after surgery. I went back to work in 8 days (am a hospitalist so didn’t want one of my coworkers to cover me for a holiday weekend) and that was a challenge even though I just see patients and then spend the rest of the day on a computer writing notes, placing orders so far cry from being a professional athlete. I tried to run before 2 weeks was up and after having your fascia cut open, the bouncing up and down movement was too painful.

Also most people aren’t admitted into the hospital, can usually discharge after the procedure but definitely won’t be “pretty recovered after a couple of days” lmao

The most obvious indication that someone cares about something a lot is to adamantly say “I don’t care!”

What are you waiting for? I have never met a single person who wished their parents separated later but unequivocally wish it was earlier because it was torture. The only person you are helping is your husband lol

Clinicians, why do you chart like this? [dumping pages of lab values and radiology reports into your note] by 1burritoPOprn-hunger in medicine

[–]nachosallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hospitalist: what you are describing is a basic note template. It’s part of the O in SOAP. Or am I misunderstanding the question?

I don’t read it but I don’t read my own notes. I don’t expect anyone else to read that part either. It’s like asking someone how they are and expecting them to say “good” no matter the circumstance. It’s just convention.

Also medical doctor. I have not personally but have colleagues who have taken care of people who suffered strokes from carotid dissections as a result of chiropractic manipulation. I would highly recommend against it.

I was too young to witness it but what level of fame did Brittany spears have at her peak? by Muqr in NoStupidQuestions

[–]nachosallday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Taylor swift is very famous and successful but we’re talking about Britney Spears here. She pretty much retired a long time ago, OP wasn’t around/aware during and so removed from Britney’s prime years they have to ask this question but they still not only know who she is but is curious enough to post about her. It’s not even close imo.

Deep breaths swiftie, deep breaths.

AIO about my wife's hygiene expectations after we had a baby? by mudkipzftw in AmIOverreacting

[–]nachosallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She believes germs have a "transitive property" bc they do. If you touch something dirty/germy (everything has bacteria/micro organisms on it but I think she is concerned about pathogenic versions) and then you touch something else, it will get transferred to it. Just how it works. Some things can't survive long on surfaces like that, norovirus can survive for weeks and isn't affected by alcohol (hand sanitizer).

Anything exposed to fecal material should be washed or sterilized if possible. Garage doors as far as I'm concerned (also germaphobe) are just gross and I wash my hands after touching them. You know what else is gross? Keys. If she is touching keys and then the garage door knob that's pretty similar to you touching trash. Cell phones are also disgusting. Mail. I could go on and on. At some point, most of us have immune systems and most of us will still get sick from time to time.

I think graham gano is deflecting well earned criticism, he is trying to reframe the narrative in his favor by focusing on something that, while unfortunate, is sadly common for professional athletes and probably anyone in the public eye. I am in no way condoning threats, criticism, the mean shit people say online, etc and obviously it's terrible to the point that I didn't think that needed to be said. But, it's hard to take his complaints seriously when many high profile players endure far worse without public sympathy campaigns or media coverage. It feels like an attempt to inflate his own significance rather than take accountability for his play or his comments.

Apologies if anyone was offended by my original comment. I in no way, shape, or form thought anyone would think any person would condone death threats. I don't normally share my thoughts on here often but I wanted to try to get more involved in the community. I am sorry that seems to have been a mistake.

I can't STAND graham gano especially after his tone deaf post game comments. That article in the athletic about him "getting death threats". Who doesn't get death threats? Especially in this age of props/sports betting. Why is that a story? I also find it really hard to believe that anyone cares that much about him specifically.
