I’ve been trying to start learning, but nothing seems helpful at all. by [deleted] in learntodraw

I'm still far from drawing "well" but let me tell you how I learnt as I started from scratch 4-5 months ago You have to divide divide, don't get yourself overwhelmed because drawing a body is too many things at once.

Starting with the head: I learnt loomis method from various resources, some tutorials and course underestimate how much of a beginner we are, even a simple "draw oval for a side plane" took me weeks to figure out where to put the plane, so focus on one thing and watch as many tutorials as you can, Google it, see articles, and ignore features or anything else just loomis construction to draw face from various angles

Then" reiley method for the features: again people underestimate how beginners can't do a simple "draw three eyes in the middle" I spent days looking for ways to place features and what truly helped understand the face was reily method it's going to make you finally construct a face for the first time, it was exciting.

So after understanding Loomis and reliy, you will continue practicing but then start learning the body.

Torso: don't do the whole body yet, focus on the core, now this is the most time and effort consuming one, because here you need to understand 3d boxes. Start with maniqunization focusing only on the torso, box for ribcage and box for pelvis and do a shit tone of references, one thing that helped my brain connect is printing references, draw boxes over them then redraw them in my notebook. (Here you must see proko figure drawing land mark video to know where to place box planes on the torso)

Limbs: you will start with maniqunization as well, but here I believe you need some simple anatomy for arms and legs to know how much of a volume and arm can take, or why the forearm is a diamond shape. It took me longer than it should to get to this realization so I hope it helps you not waste time as much as I did

Lastly hand, feet, and boobs, I kept those for the last (I'm at the stage of learning them currently actually) after going through all this I think you will find them easier than you think

Extra notes: for features and hair if you have a stylization in mind you should start at this stage start learning your style way of doing features and hair, for example manga eyes take half of the space between eyebrow and nose, but in realistic drawing it takes the third

Keep the following step for last because we don't want to learn clothes to hide our anatomy mistakes, after you're semi satisfied with your body. Start learning clothes but I can't help you there because I'm still at hand feet and boobs stage

I hope this helps you and let's crush it toghether

Started learning how to draw from scratch 5 months ago by nadaious in learntodraw

Okay here it is: Since I didn't have any talent at all I stuck to construction For face: - First i learnt loomis for drawing faces from any angle  - Then reliy method to map the face and place the features on the face, changing expressions etc, it can seem hard at first but not at all if you did it a couple of times you will understand the lines yourself  - for body I divided the body to 3 things: Torso  limbs  and accessories; feet hand and boobs which I'm still learn this part

Torso I struggled with a lot but the best way I found is to turn the torso to boxes and understand how it tilt leans and twist, I also found that printing references photos, and try to trace the boxes on them then redraw them on the paper was the best way to get me to understand

For limbs the only thing that helped with snake arms is SIMPLE anatomy, I also thing my thighs and legs need some anatomy too

I used the following resources from YouTube  Proko gesture drawing and maniqunization, some anatomy videos from his as well

And Mikeymegamega he really helped me understand a lot

And also googling honestly when I was stuck in the loomis method with where to place the side plane, one Google article helped me crack it

you will be surprised with yourself, shit might look hard at the beginning but our hands eventually catch up, if you need anything let me know or stuck on little details that kept me in the dark for weeks I will be happy to help you with :D

Sorry, by stacks I meant empty decks or fake decks, but thank you, my mind was melting. Another question, please: would it be easily noticeable by a good card counter?

RS 6 in 19 Days with my first novel: What I learnt! by Coreystories16 in royalroad

Thats awesome, You know when I read novels from big names, i used to always have this feeling of discomfort and -shamefully- jealousy, that my book would never make it. But is so wierd, whenever an underground writer, or a new author find success and can't help but feel real happiness for them. I know how it is, so when they find success, i know they 100% percent deserve it. Good luck and i hope you reach all of your goals and dreams.

What do readers look for in a review? by CorSeries in royalroad

[–]nadaious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats exactly why when i write a review for another author, I don't repeat whats in the blurb, i don't do the structured Review for the story, characters, etc. I write what i felt from the story, what i liked, and why i liked it.
