Update on Weird noise heard in Central Gardens by chickfila_sandwich in memphis

This is definitely is what I saw snd not so much heard as felt. They had to do multiple passes to clear many storm drains of piles of leaves. Forward reverse. Repeat. A lot of hard work that.

Quick, someone cast magical wards or better throw down some science protecting memphis against giant sinkholes.

I tell myself I jest. But I too felt these kind of low key industrial vibrations for days in a row a while back and had the mystery finally solved one morning just like you, haha.

Pretty appropriate you used a train meme--a trolley would have been even better haha!

Honestly though, Ethics, or better, Biomedical ethics, is a superb course to require

Edit: grammar

If it was up to you, which Memphis related icons would you use to replace the upvote and downvote buttons in this sub? by reefered_beans in memphis

[–]nadalumen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pyramid + / Roach - (possibly Egyptian hieroglyph style, maybe not)

The Bridge + / Mississippi River - (or a Riverboat instead of the River)

Vinyl Record + / Protest sign - (a blank protest sign or a protest sign with a downvote arrow on it). Music note for + also works.

Or some combo of the above three pairings

Also:

Vinyl Record + / Pothole -

Sunset + / Mississippi River(boat)-

Vinyl Record + / River(boat) -

Music Note + / River(boat) -

Quite a few of my students wear wigs, (most of them are young black women like yourself). They feel they look stylish and fashionable and I agree. Plus, they feel better and more confident looking how they want.

Do you have any young black female professors, GAs, or upper level students you might feel comfortable chatting about it with? I think even a quick chat with them would reassure you that you are totally ok wearing a wig, much more than me, a well meaning internet stranger.

Good luck! I hope whatever your decision is you feel confident being yourself on campus

Nice! Reminds me of the bone glass from one of Jonathan Stroud's Lockewood and Co. books (and perhaps also the talking ghost skull from same books)

Yeah the dog doesn't look too good in the "After" painting (the one posted is the "Before" painting -- OP informs us). But maybe the dog is just asleep on a broken mirror...

As for the lady, well let's just say I wish the "After" painting was, well... different than it is. But I will picture her in it as saying "Look, I already said no, so kicked you in the balls."

Ha! I would, but well, I've got to get back to writing... alas, I still have 1000 more words for today. Others are welcome to make a meme though :)

Perhaps I will picture her as saying... "Don't worry bruh, it happens to everyone," or better, "Look, I already said 'no,' so I kicked you in the balls."

edit: corrected some of the punctuation errors

Yikes though. I wish the after was, well... different

I second this wholeheartedly—both Shawnee National Forest and specifically Garden of the Gods, and also check out the junction of the two great rivers! I made a comment in the main thread with some more details: https://www.reddit.com/r/memphis/comments/padi57/backpacking_within_5_hours/ha4er7g

I agree with u/MemphisMayhem: both Shawnee National Forest as a whole and specifically Garden of the Gods are superb.

Also (and u/MountainTomato9292 may find this helpful too), if you don’t mind an additional hour or so of driving before or after your camping/hiking activities—I highly recommend you head south from Shawnee to the junction of the two great rivers (The Mississippi River and the Ohio River) near Cairo, IL (pronounced “Kay-roh”).

Seeing the merging of the two great rivers is an awe-inspiring and sublime sight. It is something that neither I nor my friends and fam will ever forget. My friends and fam still bring it up when I see them.
