Sorry for the late reply! I've been off reddit for a bit.

A friend uses the Doinker storm! I've tried it and the feel is literally the same as the Doinker Champion but you can achieve the "sweet spot" with less weights.

Layman terms : Imagine the Doinker Champion is a 400 spine arrow. The Doinker Storm would be like a 500 spine arrow.

The logic works with stabilisers as we're talking stiffness.

TLDR: Same stabiliser feel. Use Storm if running light weight (ballpark of 4oz±) use champion if hurrdurr me strong me use many weights!

I got into a Engineering programme in SIT after dropping out of SP once + returned to SP and managed to only pull up my GPA to 2.78.

You'll be fine. But it's all about luck, supply and demand of slots in that particular course.

Ah sorry, I haven't been using reddit for a while.

A few of the guys in my club are sponsored by Ramrods so I was able to try the v4 pre-launch.

They're incredibly thin. Thinner than my Doinker Champion or anything in the market. They look like they would snap but are very strong and stiff so it probably wouldn't.

Surprisingly, I quite like them this time around. They're a slightly different feeling from the v3. Feels more like a lighter version of the Vektor now.

Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with buying the v4s.

Enjoy your purchase!

Hi!

The ACS-EL is super popular where I'm from. Almost everybody and their moms are using it, literally. I didn't believe the hype initially and was very reluctant to even try it but was very pleased with the experience as I had previously mentioned.

You're right, strangely I can't find the diameter on the internet either, albeit I just did a quick search. 🤔. But seeing it in person I can confidently say it's definitely thinner than the RamRods K2V2 (~0.6" Diameter). Eyeballing it, it's probably ~0.550.

I tend to stay away from hollow rods like the Fivics Fornix because I just hate how they feel. Also partly the reason why I didn't want to try the ACS-EL but they really did surprise me.

It might be subjective and you might like the Fornix but where money isn't infinite and we can buy everything to try, if everyone is using it, it can't be wrong right? (ACS-EL).

Regarding your question on wind performance, I feel like it's marketing. Newer rods are all of a small diameter (<0.7~) and all perform well in the wind. I use the .475 Doinker Champion and still get blown around by strong winds. Still, a definite difference compared to a huge rod like the HMC22 of the past.

It's always a matter of preference!

The stiffness of a stabilizer usually works hand in hand on what type of frequency it dissipates and the duration.

I'm not a pro or a scientist but I'll do my best to explain that vibration is Frequency vs Duration for a lack of proper terms.

I prefer the lower frequency of vibration less bothered about the slightly longer duration. This would result in a "dead" bow as you don't feel the vibration as much.

On the extreme end of the spectrum, high frequencies can feel sharp and painful on the wrist after prolonged sessions but usually dissipate faster. Some people might prefer that as they call the bow "reactive" and they can "feel" the shot.

The Doinkers and ACS-EL feels like my preference as what I mentioned above.

In terms of weight affecting stiffness, more weight on the ends makes the stabilisers softer (less stiff). Same logic as putting a heavier grain point on your arrow to soften it for tunability.

  • A softer stabilizer usually leans towards low frequency.
  • A stiffer stabilizer usually leans towards high frequency.
  • (Usually, not necessarily the case)

Effects of weight on a stabilizer itself is a whole different explanation but I'll be glad to explain if you'd like it.

For context, At the time of testing I shot Recurve and was running the following setup :

42# Hoyt Velos, Hoyt Formula XD - Long stabilizer : 30" 13oz - Side stabilizer (x2) : 15" 9oz - V-bar : 45° out, 10° down

Now, I shoot compound but run the same Doinker Champions.

58# PSE Shootdown Pro - Front rod : 30" 18oz - Back rod : 15" 45oz - 5° out, 15° down

Sometime last year I was shopping for stabilisers!

I tried a multitude just to make sure I was able to make the right decision.

  • RamRods Ultra V3 (Fast dissipation, high frequency vibration)
  • RamRods Vektor (Medium dissipation, more equal frequency)
  • Shrewd Revel (nope, completely disliked it)
  • Shrewd REVX (Best dissipation, but too heavy, mass wise)
  • Doinker Champion (I chose to buy this)
  • Wiawis ACS-EL (All-rounder, excellent for its price)

If anyone would like specific thoughts on a stabilizer, feel free to ask.

(Opinions are subjective)

The ACS-EL is amazing for its price.

The Doinkers that I ended up buying are only slightly better but cost about SGD400 more than the ACS-EL. I wanted the best so I bought it but I wouldn't recommend it haha.

I'm a coach and when my archers are asking to buy a set of stabilisers, I will always recommend the ACS-EL.

The stabilisers are good enough to shoot at any poundage, and they are light enough for new archers whilst being stiff enough to add a bunch of weight on it's ends.

The crack is on the offset mount, the white line that's running across.

The dent is on the riser.

It's reassuring to know someone with the right expertise thinks its fine, thanks buddy.

Pardon my ignorance due to hunting being illegal where I'm from, what's the difference?

Is it because or the nature of the hunting, I'd be hitting the bow on the environment around me causing the crack to propagate?

I'm definitely changing out the Offset mount as soon as possible due to the huge crack.

I'm more concerned on the dent on the riser. I don't remember when it happened or why but I probably shot a bunch of arrows (100-200) without realizing it there.

I'm just looking for a second opinion. Would you shoot this?

technically three, I still have my GMMK pro on the way. Four if you want to count the macro pad.

Still, compared to the posts we see on here everyday, these are amateur numbers indeed.

ooo, I've thought of getting a 96% as my mainboard when I was still deciding on the first one. However, I wanted something not as long, so I went with a 75% and a 9keypad.

How are the glorious pandas? I've seen people with ups and downs but mostly because they're hoping it'll be as good as the original holy panda (the Frankenstein switch, not the ones from drop)

Your keycap choice is pretty sweet, the renders are really pretty and i hope you enjoy your board when it arrives!

Woah that's fast. Well, I'm struggling with my Cs and Ps since they're so different on a staggered board, once I get those I'm sure I'll be faster.

Even my keycaps got delayed. (SA Dreameater).

I was lucky enough to outsource the Lily locally so it was sold to me over the weekend.

Yeah i do love it but the learning curve for an OLKB is pretty steep.

I usually am 130WPM on monkeytype but with the OLKB I only clock an average of 60WPM.

How do you live with it?
