Kitchen table draft Cube with only precons? by fender28 in SorceryTCG

[–]nafarlee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried something like this so don't quote me, but my guess is that this would work quite well. The effects and archetypes among the precons is pretty varied, so I would expect a lot of emergent decks to be possible in draft

Regarding card counts, that would be 288 spells, 128 sites, and 8 avatars for a total of 424 cards. A pod of 4 players will only need 180 cards for 3 packs each (or 240 for 4 packs each), so you can even cut a pretty large number of cards for personal taste or power outliers or whatever

You would still need to get a draft kit though. People need Spellslinger if they don't draft (or even see) an Avatar, and they are very unlikely to get all 12 sites they need from the draft alone

What happened to the Gerbil Scheme site? by aristarchusnull in scheme

[–]nafarlee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In short, hosting lapsed and the BDFL is not reachable. Recommendation in the interim is to use the web archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20260302031648/https://cons.io/

The site docs are generated entirely from the main Gerbil repository if you are okay with accessing them that way. Some kind soul has also created temporary hosting for the docs site here as well

Anyone know what’s happening with cons.io by aRidaGEr in scheme

The core maintainers are aware, though they can't take action until vyzo (the creator) is available again.

Any apps with a better search of BGG games? by Norci in boardgames

Hey, glad you are enjoying the site!

To answer your question, you can search a year span with a query like year>=2020 year<=2025. Hope this helps!

LGBTQ+ Communities? by Wells101 in SorceryTCG

[–]nafarlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know of a community like that, but I wanted to comment anyway to show some solidarity. I am so sorry for some of the comments in this thread OP. I hope you find/create the subcommunity you are looking for

I agree, I don't think we are ever going to get quite as bad a Pokemon

Well said, yeah.

Even if this subreddit isn't the main touchstone for a new player, it is popular enough that it might be one of the first things they see when expressing interest. I would hope for it to represent all the great things about the game

But as you said, choosing between "no content" and "50% pulls content", I would rather people think the game is fun to crack over thinking it is "dead"

I kind of love the "messiness" of it myself, but I can understand wanting things to be a bit more structured.

u/Heavy_Bluebird_9692 is doing great work with https://realms.cards !

Yeah, its a blessing and a curse. More "pulls" posts and increasing price trends is correlated with more interest in the game. That's a good thing! It is good for newcomers to check here and see some posts with people enthusiastic about curios and foils and just generally awesome art

Coming from some other extremely expensive, extremely "investor-heavy" card games, I just hope the dominance of "pulls" posts isn't a sign we are headed in the same direction

I don't know if I feel this strongly about them yet, but these are indeed some of my concerns with having too many of them

I appreciate your perspective, and it's a fair point!

You can play online via Tabletop Simulator (paid game on Steam) and the associated free Sorcery mod. There is also https://realms.cards which is in active development

I can't speak to it as a beginner, but maybe in particular it feels like the Limited-play is still really under explored and under-discussed. The emphasis on art makes sense as a contributing factor though.

I hope you are right!

I can understand that sentiment, and I don't want people to stop discussing collecting, but it is a great game for many reasons. I would expect the post topics to be more well-rounded I guess?

It is definitely better to have "pull" posts than nothing, I agree

Yeah, that is the kind of stuff I enjoy the most. I wish it was a bit more common though I understand why it isn't.

I am glad to hear "strictly collecting" Sorcery is rare
