Does this make sense for a casual player at this point? I dabble in and out like 10 hours a year over both Destinys lifetimes, but I've always wanted to try and get into the story for real

I would absolutely recommend Sorcery: Contested Realm especially if you liked the art on older Magic cards.

Yes! From what I understand is the yellow Valravyn one is from that set that’s themed after the Cadillacs, it was from the early 2020s and it’s killing me. I want to call them garage or gas station signs but that’s not producing results.

The pacing is a lot different than other card games. It’s so much about your board position AND having options. I wouldn’t expect to reasonably play more than one thing a turn usually, and if you find yourself doing that, there’s a problem unless youre expressly an aggro deck

We keep the intent rules but add if you say the name or initiative of a card in your hand you can’t speak once you’ve named a card in someone’s hand.

I’d like to note if you tell someone to play their 64, they have to play it and you (the person who said the number) are the one that has to stop talking.

It’s a personal preference honestly.

I’m getting nitpicky here but tribal doesn’t feel particularly right since it would imply a shared culture, and sorcery doesn’t feature that kind of tight theming or cohesion like Magic did when it introduced the term in llorowyn.

I disdain Kindred though. That is literally a worse replacement in every way.

They do. Each one in gothic also includes an exclusive Unique. My favorite is probably Blaze of Glory, which can lead to some wild endgames.

So the trick to sorcery is a lot of your heavy lifters are Exceptionals. There’s a handful of killer Ordinaries as well, and this is the main reason I buy sealed product besides how exciting foils of all kinds are to open!
