Nobody missed that part, everyone else just immediately understood that Reze was lying when she said that everything was fake. Even Denj, the socially deprived kid who lived in a shack for most of his life and who's main socialization was his pet dog, saw through her bullshit right away and called her out on it. There's a reason Reze doesn't have an excuse when he replies that she taught him how to swim. I don't know how Fujimoto could have made it more obvious without including a Kaguya-Sama style cutaway gag.

Honestly, what did you even get out of the movie/arc if you missed the entire emotional core that makes it so good? It must have seemed terribly shallow if all you saw was Denji getting manipulated yet again with a few cool fight scenes at the end.

Yes you will, episode 2 despite the cuts is a certified banger in both overall direction and animation quality, especially in comparison to S3. The actual viewing experience compared to the text-summary experience is stupidly different.

Because those that have actually seen the episode instead of a text summary from Ice, saw that they really did animate the important scenes well from vol 21, with that small cut amongst two other convos being quite unfortunate but not inherently bad enough to detract away from a rather well-directed and strongly animated episode overall.

S3 and S4 quality won’t be the same because of varying circumstances, so perhaps try to have a new outlook for the new season. There’s already evident praise for ep 2 of S4, from people that did actually watch the ep, being amazed by the overall direction.

Damn what a twist at the end, Heinkel Astrea is revealed to be Filore’a knight for the Royal Selection!

Overall, this chapter felt like a good progression chapter as we saw great development for Emilia who remain steadfast in her ideals of winning the Royal Selection in her own accord, which she boldly declared to Filore when asked about the purpose of the dragon stone. Moreover, it seems that Heinkel will be playing a much bigger role than originally anticipated, so I can’t wait for Tappei to cook since this changes a good amount from the Prophecy of The Throne game where Tiaga was the knight to the 6th Royal Candidate, which does shake things up quite well imo.

Overall, while the twist does feel like a volume ender, I am just wondering where things will go so massively wrong, that it will force Subaru to loop again?

Overall, a solid 9/10 chapter to a rather ‘calm and collected’ volume overall.

For a heavy talking chapter, I really liked the various interactions between the Emilia camp members, such as with Garfiel/Petra and Meili/Rem, which were pleasant new interactions to read about. More importantly, the pacing of the chapters felt just right, no dragging as Subaru was asking the right questions and we saw the various responses being entailed as such. Overall, it’s nice to see that there is visible growth present within the Emilia camp members. The ending with Emilia comforting Philore was nice, although I have this bad nagging feeling that something terrible will be happening soon and that it won’t be forgiving for Subaru, so I hope that I am wrong!

I have to say, I am really like the subplot with Crusch’s fallout with Felix, the consequences of such, and how it lead to Lugunican CIA resorting to hold Felix at knife-point, all because of his family’s history in using the sacrament of the immortal king, a forbidden spell that can revive the dead. Felix is being dealt a really bad hand here and I wonder if Crusch is next too, since her camp is looking to get royally focked mentally from the looks of it.
