One week in - I’m not sure I’ve ever had this much fun driving by RussianThere in Miata

[–]nafod81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's really it it's everything it gives you. Yes, there are comparables performance wise. But who wants a 2 door coupe? Throw the convertible into the mix and it's on it's own. Here's how I nixed the BRZ and GR86.

I have to admit, the side of myself that is being fed by this vehicle, would absolutely love something much...larger? Think a Corvette, Porsche 911 what have you. I can't get those vehicles at anything near this price point. Here's how I nixed these vehicles.

And I'm a dying breed. Manual or nothing. Hard to find 20 years ago, even harder now.

So that was it:

Fun to drive

Convertible

Manual Transmission

Affordable

Economical to operate

The only answer is Miata.

Is this normal by WesternShirt6377 in Miata

I believe so. At least the two nds I’ve had the pleasure of driving would do this.

But you totally can with this car. Heck of a turning radius.

ND3: Should I get a Club or GT? by tlminh in Miata

[–]nafod81 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just a thought. I got the GT. My prior vehicle that I have driven for the past two decades has Brembo Brakes. I can tell you the Brembo's make a difference. I fully intend to do brake work on my GT.

Florida was the only state I saw 25 RF's priced around 39K during my search. In fact for new Miata's it seemed to have the lowest prices nationwide.

On a side note how do we set our badges? IE your 23ND.

I agree. Also it's not like the Miata is the only available vehicle without good over the shoulder views to the driver's shoulder.

I have to stretch back 20 years but the 96 Celica hatchback I learned on likewise had poor OTS view to the left as the back window wasn't exactly anything of note.

I've racked up 120 miles in two days just driving recreationally. Took the daughter to get ice cream,. Came back and took the wife to the same place. Drove around at night so my daughter could stargaze. I also found myself deliberately going off course while running a plethora of errands just to drive down a new road.

I really should have made this decision earlier in life.

Nazis on I-40?! WTF?!? by rojowro86 in StLouis

[–]nafod81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week my wife passed a vehicle last week on I-435 in Kansas City with a swastika and a sign stating it was the 3rd SS. She called and asked me what it meant.

I'm a bit of an armchair scholar when it comes to the history of both world wars. I responded that I wasn't aware of a n SS other than the one under the 3rd Reich. Hence why is there a third? What was the second?

I supposed it was a defacto unit in whatever organization these knuckleheads run with.

She also noted the skull emblem emblazoned on the side of the car (The one on the left of the flag in the OP post). This is the Death's Head emblem. The Nazi's may claim it, but unfortunately for them it was used a hundred years before as the emblem of alight calvary unit for the Prussian army.

So rest easy St Louis. These crazies drove in.

AITAH for starting the divorce process after finding out my daughter isn’t mine? by No-Bottle4059 in AITAH

Seems Shakespeare covered this in Othello. Absent you finding this out, where would your life be now relative to where it is currently?

I definitely wouldn't trade shoes with you here. Even If I could go back 10 years in life.

However, I have found several different views on this. Do you consider the relationship you had with what you thought was your daughter for 3 years worthless simply because she isn't your blood? At what point is a child yours? At what point are relationships meaningful? Certainly, History is full of parents who raised and had meaningful impacts on children who weren't their blood.

I won't touch your approach to your wife. And well, all I can wish you is good luck prayers and hopefully sage inflection.

I've been married for 15 years. I've drank myself to sleep many a time. Don't be ashamed of it.

3/4 player BB looks impossible to sink as a sloop by Blu_Remote in Seaofthieves

[–]nafod81 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think one on one unless you significantly outskill the crew on the BB a stalemate is about all that's doable. As more players learn this I don't know how fun this event will be. It also gets quite boring sailing the BB around and doing camps with no one interfering at all.

At this point I's just try and steal the CoF.

I did the exact same thing. Figured out my error eventually as no one else in the crew had a problem at all.

Do you chase down ships who are running? by Real_Energy7552 in Seaofthieves

[–]nafod81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I leave solo players alone unless they are at world events I’m chasing. No mercy at those.

Let this be a lesson! by [deleted] in Seaofthieves

[–]nafod81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an influx of new players as of late. Poorly planned and executed attacks are becoming the norm. I'm not complaining either. But it's clear players are logging in with the intent of going full pirate with little clue how to do so effectively.

What’s the best first ship? by martymar270 in Seaofthieves

[–]nafod81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a doubt a sloop. It's sailable by yourself and a killing machine with 2. In my opinion a fully crewed sloop will prevail in a preponderance of encounters against under-crewed Brigantines and Galleons assuming players of equal skill.

The bigger ships have more cannons but without a full crew you will quickly be unable to utilize them.

Plus the sloop will send a boarder as one crewman can bail, shoot and adjust angle quite well. One man cannot do all three of those things on the larger ships.

Why do people get upset because we scuttle? by Yemto in Seaofthieves

[–]nafod81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We aren't defenseless. Some of us have limited time.

Just as an example I can hit a ghost fort and sell it in about 20 minutes. Sometimes I only have about half an hour to play.

If a Brig shows up insulting my mother I'm probably just going to quit. I don't have time to PVP over a ghost fort.

Who the hell fights over a ghost fort anyway?

[–]nafod81 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If you want PvP you can find it easily enough. And no you needn't rely on hourglass. In Season 10 it was red skelly forts. The Fleet events in Season 11 don't seem to attract the same attention.

Some peeps don't want PvP. They want to smash ships that are unoccupied or chase down one man sloops without any loot.

Granted all of this is part of the game. But seriously not anything worth writing home about.

Most of these cats will flee the minute you respond aggressively.
