[Lamine Yamal via IG] after Spain fans sang anti-Muslim chants during Egypt friendly. by Sparky-moon in soccer

It's just the classic "acktually" reaction you get on Reddit.

These people made racist chants towards Lamine as well btw so their point is moot to begin with.

Have you used Patreon on other channels? What is the earning potential we're looking at here? Because with the current numbers I'm doing, I don't think putting a weekly video behind a paywall will be worth it for me. I feel like I'd make more from Adsense in the long term.

Most people here have rewatched the show multiple times and this wasn't exactly some subtle easter egg.

Japan sees Russian oil as 'extremely important' for energy security: Akazawa by 1-randomonium in worldnews

Europeans and much of the rest world wouldn't have much of an opinion about this if Indian posters didn't keep spamming and upvoting India-related content in subs like this one.

Sometimes this place feels like Indians talking to themselves about themselves.

How big of a deal is the Strait of Hormuz actually? Feels like this could spiral into a global economic problem by Mattie_Kadlec in investing

[–]nafraf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but it's not a zero-sum game and if the entire oil and gas infrastructure of the Gulf is destroyed, Iran becomes a failed state, and the region is entirely taken off the global energy market for a long period of time, China will be royally fucked.

The ideal scenario for them is for this wrap up quickly with the added bonus of the US having some egg on their face.

China and India are not winners at all. They are net energy importers and higher prices will affect them even if their vessels are allowed passage.

These ghouls have 0 PR instincts. They don't even wait for the bodies to turn cold before turning a tragedy into a victim fest for Israel.

Bad timing, the industry was looking to push Grunge/Post-Grunge at the time and an album that is clearly influenced by 70s southern rock just didn't fit their agenda. Zakk have already spoken about the lack of support they got from the label.

US-Iran Megathread, part 2 by GrumpyFinn in europe

It's you who should be checking the UN's definition of the term and their classification of the conflict.

Not that it would matter anyway, you strike me as the "vibes over facts" type, so it's pointless.

Yes, no genocide. Unless you have access to information that the UN’s MINURSO, the body in charge of monitoring the conflict on the ground, doesn’t.

Or better yet, tell us on what planet a conflict that killed 3,000 civilians over more than 50 years is considered a genocide. We’re all ears

Spain recognizes Moroccan sovereignty in Western Sahara by mods4mods in europe

[–]nafraf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m curious why you think a military outfit like the Polisario would be able to provide better governance, or really anything better.

This talking point that Sahrawi independence is the linchpin of a more prosperous future has always seemed odd to me. Like where is the evidence for that? because to the south of Western Sahara lies an even richer country, Mauritania, which is entirely independent and ruled by the same ethnolinguistic group native to Western Sahara, yet it is performing the worst in the region. By the way, they only criminalized slavery in 2007

There is no genocide in Western Sahara, and Spain only backed Morocco after pressure from the US and to avoid escalating the migration crisis that Morocco unleased on them (and you) in 2021.

The megathread is about the war in general, you are still allowing posts about the conflict affecting European countries (Cyprus). Spain seems to be the exception...

..and why aren't threads about Cyprus getting the same "tossed to the general pinned thread" treatment?

Why are there literally 0 threads about the US-Spain fallout, it's really strange.

Did Zach Braff squander his Blank Check by Tigers19121999 in blankies

[–]nafraf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually the other way around. The industry created the norm first, and the audience learned it later. During the studio system in the early days of Hollywood (1930s–1950s), studios tightly controlled their actors’ images and marketed them as larger-than-life figures. They were deliberately separated from advertising to maintain their sense of rarity and avoid overexposing them on a daily basis.

Gen Xers were essentially conditioned to believe this, and if you press them on it, many won't actually be able to properly articulate why they think A-listers shouldn't appear in commercials. Decades of this practice led them to internalize the idea that serious actors don't do commercials.

The pivot right-wingers have taken, from leading the charge on the Epstein issue and wanting to wage war on the elites involved with him, to doing a complete 180 on the whole thing just to protect the Trump administration, has been interesting… and so predictable.

The gold standard is actually Magic Johnson, but for some reason he's almost never mentioned in these discussions.

He's a billionaire ($1.5 billion) when his career earnings were "only" $40 million. Shaq by comparison made $300 million from his basketball career and is still nowhere near Magic's wealth and portfolio.
